Stokes played a lovely knock , but massive credit has to be given to Foakes ... I feel it was a true test match innings . Hopefully more off this in the future.

The best all-rounder of modern cricket Stokes...and Ben Foakes is showing his talent, he has been unlucky so far in his international career but he is a very good batsman...

Crazy thing is he's only dropped 1 catch so far, taken 5 Stumpings in 15 games and averages 31. Jos although a great white ball player averaged 31.9 with the bat and took 1 stumping in 57 games.

@@realMaverickBuckley don't comment too much on here but I feel so strongly about this I feel like I have to haha. Mainly 'cause it seems like for the first time in a long time (and I mean no disrespect to Buttler or Bairstow here, one who's probably the best white-ball batter ever and the other who's making test batting look piss right now), England have a genuinely proper keeper batsman. Arguably the best in the world with the gloves and has scored runs in a really classy way since he started. Problem is I feel like he's criminally underrated with only a couple of, as you say, in many cases unlucky dismissals prompting questions about him, while Crawley continues to buy a place. Worry that England will be incredibly England and let an actually world-class player slip through their fingers and end up just giving the gloves back to Bairstow, and fucking him in the process too

This wicket yields results with the right length, Sanga was right: SA were errant all day; just as Nortje was finding good rhythm he was replaced; the spinners did not do a bad job, but it was a passive tactic compounded by passive fields. Stokes was brilliant but like Australia at Headingly, he and Foakes were allowed to be. Rabada was bowling T20 rather than Test length; the spinners were more consistent. SA can recover, but a "tall order" is an understatement. England are deservedly ahead; Warne wisdom about a bad session proving clinical is likely to ring true.
