Stokely Carmichael Lecture at Howard University, 1972

During a lecture to students at Howard University, Stokely Carmichael speaks about the movement of black people toward unity with a clear, common ideology based on science. He stresses black people must put theory into practice - organize and take action. He speaks about the differences between revolutionary and reform movements; Pan-Africanism; the All African People's Revolutionary Party; scientific socialism; nkrumahism; capitalism; and imperialism.

Wow, he was about 30 or 31 at this time. What a 30 year olds doing today? Playing video games, Tik Tok, dreaming of becoming a rapper Etc... When Martin Luther King started Civil Rights Movement he was in his late twenties. When Marvin Gaye made the song "what's going on" he was in his early thirties. If we don't get it together our are people going to fail miserably. Everybody having their phone out recording and wanting to be a social media star is not it. Social media is killing our people. They just don't know it yet.

We Africans know we are the most religious peoples, so religion and spirituality will play an integral roll in revolution and mass African liberation. We study history to learn from successful revolutions in the past, kicked off by religious rituals (notably the most famous case of the Haitian revolution). With the conditions we are in especially today we must learn from our past struggles and apply elements to our new scientific (socialist) revolutionary movement(s).

I was born in 1967 so I was 5 when this lecture was conducted. I was more than likely watching the Flintstones or Buggs Bunny cartoons. After watching this I'm like damn, I need to pour out all I think I know and start over with a clean Tabula Rasa. Thank you for keeping this footage alive. This type of knowledge was and still is vital to our mental sharpness; because once you can grasp the Global picture of how it all works socially/politically/economically you can see were we have been systematically crippled on an intellectual level.
