Thought I understood the basics of options. And I did. But when you described it as "locking in the price" something clicked. Before I only understood it on paper but now I feel like I understand the concept. Khoo isn't the most entertaining guy on KZread but I think he's got some of the best most straightforward applicable knowledge

My advice to newbies, do well to carry out your research so you're accustomed to the nature of the market. The risks as it is a very volatile market and requires expertise.

Adam, you have a gift! I was a Series 7 rep and I still am learning. One questions however. I don't know if you, Adam or anyone else who may read this knows the answer but here goes: IF most options are bought, not with the intention of exercising them but in profiting from buying low, selling high or selling high (Covered Calls) and buying back low, then how come all my Covered calls ( the ones in the money) were exercised at or around the expiration date. One would think if very few, if any actually exercised their calls, One could keep their stock and also the premium made????

some ppl excercise their calls,some are buying for long term and yeah they excercise them,idk wym about keeping the premium,the ones who excercise the options are de buyer not the sellers meaning they havnt gained any premium

Hi Adam, Great course by the way, I have a second question if I may, at 58:38 you mention that we can hedge our short call option by buy/long call option at the higher strike price from shorted option strike price... question: why the strike price has to be higher from the shorted option strike price? If I buy/long call option at the lower strike price from the shorted call option, I could excercise that long call option and purchase the stock at the lower price from the shorted call option strike price then when I got assigned/obligated from the short call option to sell it, I can sell it at the higher price (Shorted Call option strike price) from the buying price (long call option strike price) - isn't that better?

Thank you very much - indeed, you're the best teacher in teaching options trading - so thoroughly. however i have a dump question - technically, how do you sell an option rather than exercise it (is there given diff selections)? and how do you pick the strike price - is it the best to pick the price closer to current price (in the money)?

first you need the 100 shares. then you would pick a strike price that you are TOTALLY ok with selling those shares if the buyer of your option decides to exercise the right to buy them. think of it this way... you are collecting a premium for selling the option. you would do this for any number of reasons but the most important one is to hedge against the risk you initially took in buying the 100 shares in the first place. collecting the premium and making money on your shares LOWERS your initial price that you bought the 100 shares. and you can do this over and over again. :))) until you essentially eliminate that initial risk.

Hi Adam (and Everyone), I have a question: when I short (sell) call or put option, I'm collecting premium right... I'm wondering what happen to the fluctuative option value during the time to the expiration date (before it's expired)? Am I collecting the fluctuative premium as well during this period? or I get a fixed premium (and the buyer / reseller could trade the option and enjoy the option value margin, and all this have nothing to do/impact to the original option seller)?

Hi Adam, may I check in TOS, for put credit spread, do we need to manually exercise the Buy option or it will automatically exercise and cancel off each other upon expiration when both are ITM?
