Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Do you need to drain the trans fluid before disconnecting it from the motor?

Actually a BMW twin disc clutch is essentially self aligning. The outer disc (which is clamped into the pressure plate) will align the inner clutch plate (the one closer to the flywheel).

That’s incorrect, new clutch comes with the pressure plate clamped down so both discs are loose, now if you’re installing an old clutch back in then yes the inner disc will center and hold everything together

Great video! How can you avoid this type of clutch wear in these cars? Or is it inevitable after a certain period of time? I don’t know much about this stuff and I’m very curious.

It’s normal wear, I would say you could compare clutch wear to brake pad wear, if you drive at lot at stop and go traffic it’ll wear faster, if it’s highway only it’ll take longer to wear.

@@dougmbmw Ahhh ok wow I didn’t know that, do you also recommend removing the clutch delay valves in these cars or no? I’ve heard most people don’t like the CDV and the shifts can be clunky.

@@us6509 it’s all about drivers preference, it gets more aggressive when you remove, also meaning more stress on the driveline

My F80 (6MT) has 25k miles and recently flashed it with a custom tune. Noticed at WOT the rpm creeps up. The car doesn’t move much but then catches and continues to accelerate. I’m not smelling clutch either. Recently did a CDV delete. Do you think the CDV delete could be causing this or do you think my clutch is already going out? I daily drive the car but on occasions I like to have my fun (Highway pulls).

Depending how much power you’re pushing the stock clutch may be too weak for it

Did u figure it out, as soon as I flashed stage 1 clutch started slipping, flashed back to stock still slipping. I heard these clutches can handle stock turbo power regardless. Time for a replacement I suppose
