The small predator didn't switch up targets as it paced pass other rabbits standing still. It realized to focus on wearing down the one that was already excerting energy. That made all the difference. Any inexperienced or desperate chaser would attempt to get what ever it could get near to catching. Not considering it would be fresher in stamina. Thus put up more resistance than what the pursuer has mustered in reserves to match. This is a lesson we humans could consider when pursuing our own targeted goals. Stick with the targeted plan.

1:23 I'm impressed by the fact that the rabbit in the background decided to not help the victim even though that rabbit could have easily saved the victim. But again, it makes no sense for that rabbit to intervene since he/she is clearly not in danger.

A rabbit could definitely beat a predator that's that much smaller, the thing is that they're only wired to fight other rabbits. And that's understandable because most of the time they're hunted by predators that they stand no chance against.
