Hey Tony! It turned out great! For some reason, I just saw that you tagged my blog post as inspiration for yours. I see that you corrected one of the things I should have...putting the nut for the bolt on the outside. The epoxy in mine has failed, so I'm probably going to put a threaded insert in there and it'll be functional again.

I made three sizes of stitching pony, one for clamping to table, one for clamping to seat/bench. and one from the floor, all different lengths to accommodate for different locations, and uses. I used a different design but very similar with bolt and wing nut to clamp the body and springs to pull the two verticals together, hinged at the bottom one side. I also have the angled jaws with leather, You did a great job on that very impressed. So i have subscribed also. Hi Rob, thanks for watching and subscribing. It seems nice to me to have different style stitching ponies to choose from. With this one I have I always have to stitch standing up or sitting on the base which isn't super comfortable 😂 maybe I can make a smaller clampable one too! Thanks for the tips. И я поставил пружину на поперечный винт между боковинами. Из инструмента понадобились дрель и ножовка. Грубо и не слишком красиво, но успешно работает уже 4 года ;)

Only thing I'd do different is put a spring between the jaws on the adjusting bolt to help hold jaws apart until you tighten it down

Thanks Alfredo! Unfortunately I don't have a full plan available for it, but the dimensions don't really matter as long as you can clamp leather in it and clamp the stitching pony between your legs or on a working surface. In my case, the ash wood I used was 22mm (7/8'') thick and 75mm (3'') wide. The base is 40cm (16'') long and the clamp halves are 40cm (16'') tall (all approximate). Then if you just follow my video, you should be good to go! Have fun making one! Greetings, Tony

Hi Flywelder, I had mine 3D printed in laser sintered steel from Shapeways if I remember correctly. I heat it with a torch but not too hot since it might disintegrate. Hope this helps a bit 😊 otherwise, let me know! Cheers!

Ik ben nieuw met leerbewerking en bezig met een crossdraw holster voor mijn Colt SAA te maken. Deze Stitching Pony is een goed model dat mij zeker het werk lichter kan maken. Aan de slag dus…. Oeh dat is wel dik leer. Heel veel succes ermee, ook met het stikken. Het dikste leer dat ik gebruik is 3.5mm en dat werkt heel fijn. Groeten uit Nederland 😉

Thanks Gregg! It was a piece of I believe 22mm (7/8'') thick ash. I cut it into a 75mm (3'') wide board and made the pony out of that. Where I needed the wood to be thicker I just glued multiple pieces together Forgive me if the measurements don't exactly match what I mention in the video, it might be slightly different. Good for you! From my experience dimensions don't really matter that much, as long as the clamp is able to tightly hold your workpiece and you're able to clamp the pony between your legs or onto a surface. I would be happy to hear from me once you gave it a go! Good luck!

Hallo Milush, bedankt voor je grote compliment. Helaas heb ik geen tijd om opdrachten aan te nemen. Heb ook een full time baan en probeer in mijn vrije tijd zoveel mogelijk afwisselende dingen te doen. Maar... Het is niet moeilijk om zelf te maken zoals je in de video kan zien. Good job but I gotta tell you, watching you cut things and putting your hands in the path of anything sharp is scary. Learn to use them clamps! Clamp your work down to drill, cut, machine, chisel it anything else sharp. It'll save you some stitches and down time.

I certainly do care about safety and wear my PPE and all, but I do recognize that I haven't thought enough about what I put my hands in front of so your comment is very much appreciated. In my upcoming video I am chiselling a hex nut hole again in the same way but in the ones to be recorded, I will put your advice regarding sharp tools in practice.
