    The greatest racing driver ever. Moss won 40% of all the events he entered and 66% of all the events he finished. Incomparable.

    @@petersneddon1579 Oh dear, what a sad comment. Both were British and I am Welsh if petty nationality matters. I also rate Nuvolari and Fangio and possibly Hamilton as in the top five. Does that tick enough boxes for you?

    Sir Stirling Moss: he's 84, had a career-ending accident, and yet I'd be happy if I were half as smooth as he is behind the wheel.

    "Yes that`s right... I was passed with consummate ease by Sir Stirling Moss" "But you lost the race" "Well yes of course.... But I was passed by Sir Stirling Moss" Now that is serious bragging rights... "Who were you passed by today"? The man was a bloody legend of the sport, not to mention a gentleman of the sport.

    You can see his real skill as he balances the car beyond its limits through the double corner @ 0:55 to carry as much exit speed as possible which he used to pass the driver in front who was holding him back.

  • @Jimbo8012

    @Jimbo8012

    5 жыл бұрын

    +Jake Hamilton - Unlikely. It's totally different game now. 1) A 30 year old Stirling wouldn't be fit enough - he liked the women and champagne far too much and; 2) The skills now are totally different. It's all about fitness and reaction time because the G forces are ridiculous and the speed is so intense. It's less about car control now because of aerodynamic downforce. A McLaren P1 is almost certainly faster around an average track than his 1958 Vanwall. That's how far Grand Prix cars have moved on in performance. Having said all that, I'm pretty certain a 30 year old Stirling would be far quicker in his Vanwall than Vettel or Lewis Hamilton. It's like comparing apples and oranges.

    Fabio Henrique yeah, somehow I think Sir Stirling would have buckled down and fit in. Recent Studies have shown that athletes have virtually the same skills that were displayed in Jesse Owens’ time and that the main differences are in the equipment. F1 was a sport back then and the competitors were still as lackadaisical as those in the movie Chariots of Fire.

    @@jockellis Oh sure. Lots of legends could race a modern car. Sir Sterling, Hans Stuck, Alan De Cadet, Dickie Attwood(as he proved on the Grand Tour at 84 years old driving a Porsche 917k.) The legends would be able to do it. It's the youngsters who only know how to drive computerized modern stuff who could not drive old analog stuff
