STIRLING GOLF CLUB "Here, in so many ways, is Scotland’s heart and soul. Stirling is perhaps the place where our national heritage is most vividly recalled. Always a meeting place of peoples, modern Stirling bustles with activity and offers fine shopping and leisure facilities to complement its many historic attractions. Stirling is also the ideal base from which to explore the nearby Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. Stirling is the heritage capital of Scotland, and was awarded city status as part of Her Majesty the Queen’s Golden Jubilee celebrations in 2002.
History seems very much alive in the streets of the Old Town, winding upwards to the castle, past the renovated Tolbooth - now a vibrant centre for the arts, the administrative heart of the renaissance burgh, and the Old Town Jail, an imposing 19th century prison, which is now a fascinating attraction presenting the horrors of life for inmates in a Victorian reform jail.
Next door stands the medieval Church of the Holy Rude, where James VI was crowned and John Knox preached the sermon. Argyll’s Lodging, a beautifully restored mansion house built in the 1570s and much extended by the 1st Earl of Stirling in 1632, is your last stop before reaching the top of the hill, and the Castle.
Stirling Castle, perched on its rocky crag surveying the surrounding land, is one of Scotland’s grandest castles. Its history is turbulent, its architecture outstanding. The restoration of the Great Hall took nearly 10 years to complete. Originally built during the reign of James IV, the exterior has been returned to its original golden yellow colour, by the traditional method of harling.
As a military stronghold, seven great battles - including the decisive moments of Scotland’s wars of independence - took place within sight of its walls. Later, for almost three centuries prior to the Union of the Crowns in 1603, it was a favourite royal residence. The quality of the buildings is superb, particularly the Great Palace, the Chapel Royal and the Renaissance Palace."

I was just recently watching a TV show about this same castle! It was so interesting learning about the history of this whole area of Scotland! The castle is just amazing! All the history that happened there centuries ago! What a beautiful golf course too. Most of my ancestors are from that area of Scotland! I think they would have called me Lawrence the Enormous back in those days! 😂😂😂

Played here in 1986 whilst on holiday. The wife and kids went horse riding and I sneaked off for a game of golf. Joined a very friendly member and thoroughly enjoyed the course. Hole no.6 had been voted one of the best holes of golf in Scotland. Great memories
Fun fact for Steve, him being a liverpool fan...At the same time as Bill Shankly was manager of Liverpool, Anfield, his brother Bob Shankly was manager of Stirling Albion & their stadium at the time was also called Annfield.
As I am sitting and watching this on my computer nightly my wife passes by and asks "is that OMP again?". If she thinks this stuff is entertaining you guys are doing something right! My best, James Head

Stunning Scottish views! Great camera work Joe. Went on a similar trip ten years ago with my mates from Manchester and we also played a lot of hidden gems! We stayed away from the big dollar courses and had more fun. This video brought back memories. We also played Sterling Golf Course, then went on to play the following, Blairgowrie (both courses Rosemont and Lansdowne) In Kinross the Green Hotel courses - Blue and Red. Monifieth Golf Links, Murrays Hall, WhiteMoss Golf Club, Lynedoch Golf Course. Thanks for the memories,

What a great golf club. It must sit very close to where Edward Longshanks turned up with his big catapult to give the castle a good slapping. Stirling is packed with history.
Go into the castle walls and take in the brilliant view. well worth a visit. Must go to this course too.

Hi guys from the USA, wow what a beauty of a golf course. Top notch staff very welcoming. Joe is doing some real fine quality visual storytelling, love the drone work. Liam and Mr Barlow doing a great back and forth with each other, I never tire of you two bantering back and forth. It's all about the tree, chips it into the tree, then says it was unlucky!!! Drives it into a fairway bunker then says it was a really good shot!!! I reckon OMP might have a different assessment...😂. Great blog. Sterling looks great. 👍

It looks fantastic because they showed the fields at the edge of it. It's surrounded by schemes and motorways. Most of Stirling is just renovated industrial areas.
Those ball tracking graphics are excellent,and really enjoy your videos...the banter between Liam and Mr Barlow...priceless!

Went to Stirling in 2018. Did the castle tour and then played Pitlochry. Another hidden gem. The course was fantastic and we had a blast. £35 with an electric trolley. Can’t beat it.

The quality of the videos are so impressive now, superb work Joe. The shots over Rannoch moor and Glen Coe were stunning. I normally go to Scotland for the walking in the highlands.... golf is now included in my itinerary! Liam, those lessons are paying off
