So far there are 7 stingless jellyfish lakes have been found and known in Indonesia. They are in : 1. Ubur-ubur lake in Kakaban island (Kalimantan, the one you visited), 2. Haji Buang lake in Maratua, Derawan (Kalimantan) 3. Mariona lake, Togean island (Sulawesi) 4. Karwapop lake, Misool islands (Raja Ampat, Papua). 5. Lenmakana lake, Misool islands ( Raja Ampat, Papua) 6. Pulau Sembilan, Komodo Nasional Park (Flores island) 7. Lohia lake, Muna island (Sulawesi) Could be more would be found in the future, as there are still many parts of Indonesia left untouched and unexplored. Which is very good

I would swim there in a heartbeat! The first time I heard about stingless jellyfish was when I was a kid and I saw a show on the Disney Channel where Jeff Corwin visited a lake filled with stingless jellies in Palau. The little box jellyfish are so awesome. I saw a pic of an Irukandji sting once, and it looks horrific. Looks like an awesome adventure and the footage you got is absolutely stunning, especially the look beneath the mangroves. It's so great to hear that they're trying to keep this lake in pristine condition because I've heard that many of the jellyfish in the lake in Palau have died off because of tourism. 8:50 - You might be confusing jellyfish species here. The Irukandji (Carukia barnesi) isn't usually fatal, but is known for inducing 'Irukandji Syndrome'; a suite of effects which includes sufferers reporting a sense of impending doom and enduring horrible pain (barely touched by the strongest of pain medication) The box jellyfish that is more likely to be fatal is Chironex fleckeri. We have them seasonally common on along the eastern beaches of mid and northern Australia and they are one of the main reasons some of those beaches feature prominent signed warnings to 'Beware Marine Stingers'. Some beaches apparently use off-shore netting to intercept some of the larger stinger species, but no such luck where concerns the Irukandji, it's so incredibly small that it's very hard to exclude from beaches.
