    I bought an improved Meyer Lemon in a 4" pot last spring , it's already nearly 3 feet tall , in a 3 gallon pot outside in zone 6b and this spring it's full of blooms ! I love your videos , they are VERY informative and since watching your video on growing Meyer lemon from cuttings I have already rooted 8 new lemon trees and gifted 4 of them to friends and neighbors along with a link to your KZread channel.

    Thank you so much for going through the steps and requirements. My 3 year old Meyer lemon put off 2 blooms this year. It's the first time it's bloomed! My 3 year old Key Lime has not yet bloomed. It went through a pretty severe leaf drop after spending winter inside. It's produces SO many new leaves this spring. I hope next year will be it's year.

  • @marcelinanoss8825

    great ,,, the leaf drop is caused from shock , aka change of temperature, humidity and light. They will come back quickly. Lime tree, from seed?? If its from seed, patience is the name of the game, I may be a couple of years yet before it blooms. Otherwise, if its grafted or from cutting, it is the same age as the mother tree and simply fertilize with Citrus-tone by Espoma, water it thoroughly once a week. Deep Water until the water runs out the bottom of the pot. Treat each week with a good anti-insecticide ( all Natural ) Aza Tek Plus is highly recommended. ( Ebay) . Remember each different kind of citrus has different blooming seasons. Right now our Calamondin and limes are blooming out, while the Meyer lemon will start pushing out late summer.

    My Meyer/Keylime also had leaf drop this last winter so badly I thought it may die also due from being inside. Now it’s prettier and larger than ever. Just re-potted and teasing the root bound ball about two weeks ago and have had probably 6 inches of growth since. I’m hoping it will flower soon even though it’s about four feet tall.

    In hindsight I ish I had confirmed my Lime tree was blooming when I bought it about 4 years ago. Because although it seems healthy and I feed and water it well, it still has bot blossomed. My Meyers Lemon (same age and about 40 feet away) is loaded with fruit. And has been producing for two years.

    Yeah…..it might, but as said, some fruit plant seeds don’t grow “true to seed”….you could take 10 seeds from the same orange, and some will produce fruit like the parent trees, some more, some less, but some will grow but not fruit. 3 feet is likely still early, and still might if not this year.

I have another variety grown from seed given to me by a friend. I was told it will flower and fruit after 1 year and it did! Not sure what variety though. It will be in it's second year this July and now I see another flush of blooms.

    I live in New England, I finally got a Meyer Lemon Tree, I've had it for 4months, I transplanted it because it was growing out of the container it came in, Now its outside during summer, seems to grow more branches instead of fruit, this tree/bush means a lot to me because lemon is my favorite spice/flavoring. AND Now lemons are nearly a $1 !!! Screw that! I grow my own food, only eat meat from our neighbor/farmer down the road. Plant your own food folks ! it's not complicated, ask questions, people are always there to help.

    here's another thing to consider Maria,, your plant grown from seed? which variety is it. If its a hybrid strain, you dont know which fruit you will be getting. The only way you an be sure is if its a graft from proven lemon or from a air layered tree from the mother plant. There is no greater joy than raising a citrus tree from a seed and seeing your first blossoms.. then days later you see the little tiny fruit fall off Boo Hoo!!! It happens all the time..

Make sure you have really good potting mix for good drainage, You dont want root rot. Send me a pic of your tree thats dropping fruit to cashyourgreens@gmail.com ill tak a look at the leaves and see if there is anything else ok ? Keep watching Dai

    Full-spectrum light with a color temperature in the range of 5000K to 6500K is recommended for the vegetative growth stage of citrus trees. This range provides a balanced spectrum of light that mimics natural sunlight and supports photosynthesis.

    Wow. I was already impatient with my calamansi (grown from seed around 2015) until I saw your video. I was already thinking of cutting it down but my love for agriculture won! I didn't know that citruses could take such time.. Mine have super big thorns! I planted it from seed when I was around 15-16 yrs old; now I'm 24. It got shaded with my Guyabano so maybe it affected its growth due to lack of sunlight. My calamansi is even taller than our house and it's trunk is even bigger than or equal of a papaya tree

    yes,, absolutely, your tree predetermines how many fruit it can handle in terms of the strength of the branches and the nutrients it also is able to supply them. the amount of water the plant has in its system also determines. Water your tree thoroughly when its blossoming and make sure to water it with pH water in the 6 to 6.5 range.

    hi there, Check your plants roots. If it is rootbound it will not take up nutrients, thus the yellowing of leaves is one of the reasons, could be many things but you start with the easiest thigs first, Fertilize it now. Citrus are heavy feeders, they want nutrients badly. Citrus tone and Mg is great. If you repot add some compost to your mix as well. good luck!

    I bought a tangerine tree from hardware store, Home Depot. It’s hardly grown, if at all and it’s a bit over a year old from day we bought it. Buying plants from stores have no information on tags. Have no idea how it was propagated, is there a way to tell? Your trees I see are busy like, not tall and leggy. Long branches and not many leaves, mine is! Also, mine seems ‘leggy’, not busy. Ty for the video, it’s informative for me. I have my first citrus tree and know nothing about growing one. I’m going to watch a LOT of your videos, it’s easy to under and again, informative How do I tell if my tree has been watered enough when planted in the ground? I live just south of Tampa in Florida. I think I’m zone 9b

  • @marcelinanoss8825

    @marcelinanoss8825

    Жыл бұрын

    great! your zone is good :) no problems there, If you plant is in the pot still it most likely is root bound and will not grow much at all. Like a great white shark in a 50 gal aquarium. Easy to tell, simply pull the plant out of the pot and inspect them. Next, if you want to plant in the ground, make the hole twice as big as the root ball, place compost in the bottom of the hole and water the hole really good like till it fills up and then let it drain. Watch and see how long it takes to drain. No more and 1 minute , if longer you have clay which in Florida its mostly sand, but you never know. . Meanwhile until you get it in the ground make sure you are giving it pH neg water like 5.5 to 6.5. As for the propagation, look at the truck of the tree about 6 to 10 inches from the base. do you see a scar like on on the truck if so its grafteed which most citrus trees sold in the stores are grafted. There are a few root stocks they used as they are more disease resistant, Good Luck my friend keep watching! :)

    great,, here are some tips to consider. Is the plant in the ground or in a pot? How old is the plant? the older a plant gets it will begin to size down its fruit. Composting is vital to healthy, larger fruit as citrus are heavy feeders. Make sure to fertilize every 6 months with a good citrus fertilizer. and when its forming fruit make sure to heavy water it once a week, maybe twice if you are in a hotter climate, hope that helps you .One last thing....if its ina plastic pot, check the root system and make sure it isnt rootbound, break up the roots and repot if necessary

    Very interesting. We have very rich volcanic soil and my 2 lemon meYers bought frOm a good nursery some 5 years ago are huge and always green but we get very few flowers or fruit. Hard to remember when actually. Should they come out as bad stock perhaps? We don't feed them at all as they are so green and leafy, but that's all they do. Any suggestions please? Also never pruned them. Should we? They are in a sheltered place between a wall and a small house and we do get temperatures around 0 in winter here in New Zealand, they've never been bothered at all.

  • @marcelinanoss8825

    @marcelinanoss8825

    Жыл бұрын

    it seems from my best guess is that you have perhaps too much nitrogen in your soil. If you tree is growing fast and very green leaves, i would take a shot and say the nitrogen is too rich. Try adding more phosphorus supplements to your soil thus helping the plant to produce blossoms. Witihout checking your soils pH and how often it is watered, etc, its hard to know for sure. Added Note: When a volcano erupts, it spews out a mixture of molten rock, ash, and gases. Over time, this mixture can break down and weather to form nutrient-rich soil. Volcanic soil is often characterized by its high mineral content and excellent drainage properties, making it ideal for plant growth. One of the minerals that can be present in volcanic soil is nitrogen, which is an essential nutrient for plant growth. However, the amount of nitrogen present in volcanic soil can vary depending on factors such as the age of the soil, the type of volcano, and the location. For example, younger volcanic soils may have more nitrogen because they have not yet had time to weather and lose nutrients. Additionally, nitrogen can be lost from volcanic soil through erosion, leaching, and other processes. In general, volcanic soil can be rich in nitrogen, but it is not a guarantee. Other factors such as pH, organic matter content, and the presence of other nutrients also play a role in determining the fertility of volcanic soil.

    there are question that i would have,, did you fertilizer too much , too often, do you water it every day and how much? Does it get enough light , is the pH of you soil correct,, so many questions to ask that i dont have the answers for without seeing it and testing different qualities, Its sort of like you telling you pediatrician your child is sick and what does he say?? Make an appointment for him. Plants and people are pretty much the same way. and your answer is yes you can give your lemon tree too much water,, too much nitrogen and burn your plant causing yellowing and leaf drop. It could be spider mites as well,, so the best approach is not to do too many things at once,, Id go with the pH first otherwise your plant can never use the fertilizer you are giving it, water it thoroughly once a week unless it is in extreme heat, then twice, but not every day. Check it very well for spider mites immediately, these are ninja killers of your plant, its dead before you know what hit it, hope this gives you a good head start

    Adding coffee grounds to the soil of citrus trees can potentially help promote blooming and overall plant health. Coffee grounds are rich in organic matter and contain various nutrients, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. These nutrients can contribute to the growth and development of citrus trees, including promoting blooming. Coffee grounds also have the advantage of increasing the organic content of the soil, improving its structure and water-holding capacity. They can also attract earthworms and beneficial microorganisms that contribute to soil health. However, it's important to note that coffee grounds are acidic, so they should be used in moderation and not excessively applied. Citrus trees generally prefer a slightly acidic to neutral pH range. If you use coffee grounds as a soil amendment, it's recommended to mix them with other organic matter, like compost, to balance the pH and prevent over-acidification of the soil. Regular monitoring of soil pH and observing the tree's response will help ensure the appropriate application of coffee grounds or any other soil amendments. Hope this helps you Ean :)

    I live in Colorado and placing my bushes in the garage will be too cold over the winter. What should I do?

    Hi, I have calamansi plant in a container and it’s growing a good amount of fruits. But the leaves are not that green it’s slightly yellow. It’s early summer,can I put fertilizer when there’s still fruit on it?

    first.. how mature is the fruit? If its able to be harvested, good tiem to do it, its draining your tree from nutrients, if you decide to keep it, them place a good amount of worm castings and a little Epsom salts . Wait until the fruit is picked them give it a good Citrus fertilizer, Citritone is my favorite one. Make sure its getting at least 8 hours of sunlight ( minimal ) to 10 hours. Hope this helps :)

    lol... mR gREY eLDER.. I am not a clairvoyant, you have to give me more info than that my friend. Can you go to a doctor and tell him over the phone and say, I dont feel good, whats wrong with me doc?? You have to go in for tests right? Plants are the same thing. Give me all the info such as leaf conditions type of soil, pH ? hours of sunlight? watering? fertilizing? so much to know without seeing a plant.
