Fun fact: James Cameron, the director of Titanic, didn't actually want a song with lyrics for the movie. He just wanted instrumental music in it. But when he heard the song, he was instantly sold and put it in the movie.

Not sure why since I get seasick and am not a fan of large bodies of water, but I've been obsessed with the Titanic since I was a little kid. The exhibit toured the U.S. ten years or so ago and I saw it in Atlanta. Bought a trinket in which there is coal from the ship, a keepsake I treasure. There was a survivor of the sinking with my last name from the same place my father's family was originally from, but I've never tried to figure out if there's any relation. Not sure I want to know.

  • @AT87

@@3ScotsInk I've been obsessed too since I was little, my mum started telling me about the ship when the news started talking about James Cameron making his movie. I've never seen the exhibit though, I'm sure that must be quite the experience for Titanic-nerds like us. That's interesting, I would have wanted to know more about this survivor but I understand that you're not sure. My paternal grandmother knew the sons of one of the men who lost his life during the sinking, I don't remember what she said about him but I remember finding information about him in one of my books when I was spending the night at her house and she randomly mentioned him, although I don't remember much from that evening (she passed away in 2001 so it's a long time ago) I remember it was a nice bonding-moment for us.

@@AT87 Her name was Eva Hart. Here's an interview with her. kzread.info/dash/bejne/f3hprJZsipynh6w.html Of course she and all the T survivors are dead now, but there are a lot of docs here on KZread, interviews with others, stories of the investigation that followed the sinking, much of it very sad, placing blame where we now know it didn't belong and whatnot. I'm glad you got to talk with your grandmother about it. I wish I had, wish I'd talked with my mother and father about it, but they are all gone now. Titanic nerds, I love it! It is kind of eerie though, being so interested yet at the same time so terrified by the idea of dying that way. Seeing the artifacts, photos of many of the souls lost that night, pieces of dinnerware, clothing, suitcases-- the exhibit was amazing. But I felt haunted the whole time. Keep an eye out, I'm sure it's still making the rounds around the world. If it pops up somewhere close to where you are, don't miss it. It'll stick with you forever.

@@3ScotsInk Thank you for sharing, I remember seeing that interview with her but it's been a while. Yes, it is eerie I guess but there are so many stories in that one incident that it's no wonder one would be so interested in it. I would love to see the exhibit one day but I have to admit that I am in no rush, I think it would feel a bit eerie as well, at least to me... but I wouldn't say no if I got the chance!

In my opinion; Leonardo DiCaprio deserved to win an Oscar for Best Actor in "Titanic." However, the friendship he has with Kate Winslet is more than sufficient as their friendship has endured for twenty-six years. Kate Winslet is still so gorgeous and Leonardo DiCaprio is still quite handsome. When Leonardo finally won an Oscar for his movie "The Revenant" in 2016 Kate teared up during his acceptance speech.

Like Rose only had Jack in her life very briefly, but as the song says, Tim touched me for a lifetime. Also, like this song also says, 26 years since his passing, I continue to feel Tim's presence and that connection is one of the main reasons I am able to keep going, why "my heart will go on and on."

This song was composed by the great James Horner. The soundtrack to this film is one of my favorites overall and favorite amongst James Horner's work. RIP to this man. I'm glad Celine Dion took the chance to do it even though she was reluctant to do another power ballad during her this time in her career after coming off her Falling Into You World Tour and the Beauty and the Beast OST. Hearing the second half to the song brings me back to my teen years - this song was everywhere and reminiscent of Whitney's I will always love you era. Good tears!

This song definitely won't be on a Wedding Playlist for Me. When I was 20 I had a Bad case of unrequited love. The last time I saw Him was the first time I watched "Titanic" at the movies. I saw it twice at the movies. Jack sank into the sea, the guy I'd fallen for hopped on a plane and moved to the other side of the country. He couldn't bare to break My heart in person, He rang Me on the phone. He broke My heart as gently as He could, but it still hurt like hell. It felt like My heart was made of glass and He'd thrown a brick through it. It took Me a couple of years to recover. Every time I'd watch "Titanic" or listen to Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" I'd cry. I know a lot of good love songs but I'd never play this one if I get married. My Music tastes run from Classical to Heavy Metal, so of course I know plenty of songs. There's a guy I like and He likes Me, but we're not there yet.

Never never forget that recording took only one ☝️ take and was done one take that recording was the demo only one time that is how Celine is always on point when she’s singing she’s always spot on with the song and also she won an Oscar for that song and many Grammys😉👌

Celine has a God given voice. That voice is unmatched. It's mind blowing. Her voice and that song are were a match made in heaven. A song for the history books.

The instrument at the start of the song is a penny whistle (also called a tin whistle). It's used in traditional Irish music.

It blows my mind there are adults who still have never seen Titanic I was 10 when it came out and saw it 3 times and saw it for the 4th time when it was re-released in theaters for the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. Titanic is actually only 1 of the handful of movies I've seen multiple times in theaters. My sister who was 13 at the time it came out saw it 13 times in theaters. She loved Leonardo Dicaprio.

Her vocals are amazing, she has a voice that captures you, Just a bit of trivia, What does this Titanic have in common with the real one, A Jack Dawson, the real one was a crew member ( engine room) they didn't even know he existed.

This is the love theme from Titanic.. Celine Dion is from Quebec Canada... she started out singing in French but made it big singing in English... she has very clear voice... beautiful dramatic voice... she just lost her Husband and manager to Cancer about 2 years ago... it took her awhile before she could sing this song again after that... she is such a beautiful singer... yes There is a sex scene in Titanic.... relax BYSC.... great crescendo and decrescendos in there... nice vocal control

Okay, Billy. Be ready to watch a movie that is over 3 hours long. Lol. My sister and I watched in theaters 2 and the theater actually inserted a 15 minute intermission. I was 12 when this first came out, and I'm now 36, turning 37 in December, and this movie still holds up. You may very well already know this but, the time and attention this movie needs is seriously worth it. Lol.
