Mario's performance throughout this entire tournament was unforgettable. Not just in this match.

Probably the game that had the biggest influence on my childhood personality. Before the game I cheered for Italy even that I'm german, after Balotellis first goal I learned from his existence for the first time, after his legandary celebration he became my favorite player for like four years, I was literally obsessed with him drawed him everywhere in his pose. Hadn't thought about him in a while but this is now pure nostalgia. Legend this man.

he would have had more but Conte became the coach after this WC so he didn't play for italy again until Mancini took over. Conte wasn't having him bc he didn't bother his arse in training and was always late, but was still a quality player at that point and they could have used him.

He was given huge amount of love by his adoptive Balotelli family... I think there were problems with his biological family which might have unsettled him... Yes, he had to deal with racist fans, but the people who really counted in football supported him immensely... not many players, even very talented, get the chance to play for Inter, Man City, Milan etc... Unfortunately on a personal level (and for his own reasons) he didn't exploit these incredible chances for his professional advancement. If he had been more careful he would have been a permanent unstoppable Centre Forward for Italy to this very day and future... To this very day Italy has lacked a charismatic Cf and he could have been the one... Instead Italy fans are still waiting for one

I get goose bumps watching this performance of him. I don't care what every body says about him. He is the best Italy has ever had....at 15 he broke into the first team amid racist chants...at 17 he won a treble with which included the champions league...at at 21 he brought city their first premiership title in style...and don't forget in this game he was 21/22....simply one of the best...Italy was flat in 2010 wc for leaving him home....in this game the header was no ordinary header...he rose on a dime to head that in. And the 2nd....well what can anyone say about that goal!!!

@@Seven7.14 italy one of the most racist country in europe? that country which became Europe's humanitarian dump for migrants? 1000 people arrive in need of help and when we ask for some places abroad we find at most 2 countries that take 10 each. We cannot be defined racist, we have always lived together with many types of populations, since we are at the center of the Mediterranean. (after England's defeat in the euro 2020, did you see how easy it is for the "least racist country in Europe" to mock their black players?)

There are goals you will just always love. The argentina team goal vs Serbia comes to mind for example. That second Balo goal was the same so angry. I will always remember it fondly

@@reach2prasanna I would say he is average nowadays with his form but the other reason maybe no well established clubs wants to gamble or take a risk on him looking at his history with disciplinary issues.

I’ll never forget this one. I’m from Sardinia. I was 8 years old, staying in Barcelona with my mom and brother who had to be there for a football tournament. All the Italians watched this match together at the hotel, there was a big room with a big screen. Sweet memories. Mario was a phenom back in the days.
