I am starting my 4th year with this Stihl mower, RMA 510, and it works beautifully. I have zero problems with any design factor. The battery does my entire yard which is a small one. I have to laugh at the idea that his mower is causing him pain via the bar on the handle that makes the thing run. Press the button, grasp the bar and off you go. Easy as pie and quiet as a mouse. Methinks he doth protest too much. To each his own. I praise this Stihl to many friends, family, complete strangers. P.S. I've got ten years on this guy who made video.

I don’t mind things that are made in China, just as long as the quality control is good then I don’t care. Toro mowers are made in Mexico yet they are one of the most reliable brands out there.

I have one and can't fault it, it's been worked harder than it was ever designed to and hasn't missed a beat. I have never used the catcher (bag) so don't know about that, but otherwise I haven't had a problem

It is a big deal if you have to use a shade tree hack to use an expensive mower, had I pulled one out of a dumpster I’d have no problem doing that. This is the 3rd mowing season running the Ryobi that I settled on and I’m more than happy with it, it’s comfortable and just works.

I'm considering buying one of these from my local Stihl dealer. The dual controls should be changed around. Great idea for the design, but poor execution. Perhaps removing the drive bar and installing separate toggles for the blade and drive. Only one activation bar and nothing happens unless that one bar is depressed and the appropriate toggles switched on.

He's definitely bitching a lot, I absolutely love my 510, I have no issues with the drive handle or the blade engagement handle. I am 6' tall and had no issue with my feet hitting the bag at all. He's complaining about his feet hitting the bag, and also complaining how the bag on the Troy Built mower never fills up.

I put a reusable zip tie on my 510V's blade motor. Works a treat & you can just undo the zip tie when you finish. I've run into troubles with what I think is a faulty drive line & the mower isn't one yr old. It's making what sounds to me to be bad bearing noises. Although, it could be my own fault. The bottom of the plate gets bogged up with grass & the only way I can get rid of it is with the hose. Maybe some water got into the housing & is causing the issue. I wouldn't have thought it was going to be an issue. But there ya go. Not even one yr old & there's major issues with the thing & it cost me $1200.00 AUD with the battery

A lot of good info as I was considering adding the 510V to my already purchased Kombi battery system. I am now having second thoughts only because of quality issues but you are comparing apples to oranges here (gas Troy Built to Stihl Battery). Plus the fact I think most battery powered mowers are manufactured in China. I certainly see your point with the drive bar, I feel your pain! I don't have as much area to mow as you do so I don't know if it would affect me as it does you. I am currently using a Honda gas self propelled.

I ended up going with RYOBI, it was overall the best of the 3 I tried but it still has its flaws. Spring time grass is a killer on the batteries, gotta keep the blade sharp and the bag clean (if you bag). Once late spring arrives the mower performs really good but still not as good as gas mowers 🍻🍻🍻

@@116falconer Seems any brand you choose has issues one way or another. My next door neighbor just bought a Ryobi self propelled and is returning it. He claims the plastic housing flexes too much and it clumps up underneath. He wants to buy my Honda gasser. I have to laugh! He has less property to mow than I do and his is flat compared to my sloped property. I think my 21" self propelled Honda is too much of a mower for the size of my property plus i'm tired of the maintenance and gas. Like I said I went all battery power on my string trimmer and edger. I just need a blower & mower and i'll be all set! On the hunt.

Mowed the front lawn with no prob. Started the back yard and there was bad grinding in read wheel. Removed wheel to find a washer messed up in the gear. Removed it and fixed it. Walked 10 feet and the RIGHT rear wheel won't drive AND the RPM of the motor went up and down by itself. I'm done. Taking it back tomorrow. Made in China says it all. Make the damn thing in the USA.

I just bought a RMA 510 and it's garbage compared to my 12 yr old Honda. It will not pick up pine needles or leaves unless it's at the 2nd lowest setting which will destroy my lawn. I cut/mulch at 3 in. full power ;less water, high temperature. No matter if I side discharge, bag, or mulch, I basically have to rake up or blow the needles off the lawn. Total blade design issue. Apparently Greenmachine blade will fit this piece of garbage

Thanks for your review. I have had exactly the same mower the Troybuilt, they are a rock solid machine , you are right it was a terrible mulcher and never bagged a blade of grass (SPOT ON!) but it lasted me ages until I unfortunately dusted the mower and that was that. I was just considering buying the Stihl but there's absolutely no chance now! I am not sure I really like the change to electric for mowers as my yard is just way too big. I am out there for sometimes hours at a time in Australia and not just grass more like brush. The 28 minute battery time isn't gunna cut it, even though 35 minute charging, that'll drive me freakin nuts!

You may be correct but the freakin price point -vs- what you get is, IMO ridiculous. I like self propelled cause my knees are shot but I still want to do the walking. Being that it’s made in China and for just shy of $500 without a battery or charger you’d think they would’ve put a little more thought in to it.
