I fix saws and small machinery for a big firm here in Blighty. The FS461 is exactly the same as the FS460, no longer available. The only material difference is the angle gear, which is greasable and the tool mounts are upgraded. They run 460s and beat them to death. Dead easy to work on and they keep running and running, The hours on each one must be huge. The bramble blade (mulch bade, the one with the 90 degree bends on the end) are a revelation - they will disappear racks of brambles, but if you are not gentle with them, they will knacker the wee screws on the guard. Use the correct guard for these and never use them guard-less - they really launch stuff.

Get yourself a "saw stop" guard so you can properly utilise the clearing saw blade ! They do a guard for metal grass blades too and a guard for "shredding knife" it really makes a difference using the correct guards ! And a shredder knife ! I only use a shredder knife or a saw blade ! No need to piss about with anything else ! Check them out ! Your stihl dealer will be able to order a shredder knife or any of the above guards / blades
