    The first several stickers I made with OL177WR removable matte sticker paper were disappointing -- very washed out and/or oversaturated, the text was fuzzy, et cetera. I was thinking because the sticker paper was really smooth I should be setting the printer for matte photo paper, but the extra ink being laid down just got muddy. Once I changed to plain paper at highest quality, the stickers came out crisp and vibrant. Always test your printer with a variety of settings even if you think you know what's best.

  • @milkteafirst

    @milkteafirst

    3 жыл бұрын

    hey! thanks so much. the trick with weatherproof is in the ink. by nature, inkjet will bleed - so an alternative is to use laser. however, if you only have/want to use inkjet - a route I've seen a lot of people use is weatherproof paper (like in the video) + inkjet with a cold laminate so the water doesn't actually touch the ink. I hope this helps!

  • @milkteafirst

    @milkteafirst

    I know exactly what you mean! It's soo frustrating. WP matte reads 99.9% of the time. In a couple rare instances, it didn't work but I think my cricut was just throwing a tantrum so I gave it a water break and a quick power nap. I've had no issues recently - I just make sure the top lid is closed and there is sufficient light in the room - but none shining directly at the sensor. Best of luck!

    Thank you for inspiring me to do sticker tests! How did you get your Mattes to match the color of your design on screen? I'm unbelievably embarrassed to say how much matte paper I've wasted on testing, the colors just don't come out right! My Sticker design test has a lot of green and for some reason, it comes out blue when I set it to "Matte Paper". I don't think it's because my Canon printer is dirty because I cleaned it a lot and when I tested glossy paper, the colors come out so well. Also I made a matte sticker gift for my 2 friends last August and when I played with Matte paper then, the colors were perfect, I just honestly don't remember the settings for it. This current round of testing is failing terribly, and I don't know what to do. I feel like I've tried almost every setting permutation.

  • @milkteafirst

    @milkteafirst

    3 жыл бұрын

    that is really strange. I can tell you I thought something was wrong with my printer and I was on the phone with Canon for quite some time - they guided me to download another app to print my images from. in the end, I found that printing on "plain paper" actually works best with my designs. this being said, I'm using a Pro9000 Mark II and use plain setting - whereas when I used my 8520, I used matte. I know it's a headache to waste so much paper but if you watch my video re:sticker pressure settings, you can use that method of organizing your images on design space to print on one sheet of paper, multiple times. hope this helps!

    Use white! You will know if you've purchased a printer with a white ink cartridge (they are VERY expensive - like industrial grade expense) - so the white acts almost like a null. I hope that makes sense. Great question!

    The ink from the online labels clear gloss never dries for me no matter how long I wait for it to dry and it leaves awful fingerprints if you use your bare hands. Did you notice something similar with the online labels clear matte? Thank you for this video it's always great to hear feedback on different sticker paper :)

  • @milkteafirst

    The clear matte is OK to touch immediately after printing so it dries pretty quickly. I didn't have that issue with clear gloss actually - I realize I wasn't being patient enough. If I leave it for about 30 minutes or so, it'll be completely dry even if I try my hardest to smudge it. My printer is a Canon Inkjet and I set it to best quality + glossy. Do you think it could be your printer settings? Nonetheless, I am switching over to clear matte because my cricut is having a hard time reading the glossy and it's just NOT worth the time and effort to baby the black cut lines. Hope anything I said helps - please reach out if you'd still like to discuss :)

    @@milkteafirst I have the same issue on clear gloss label, and I tried clear matte which turned better, but still a little bit smudge problem. I think it might because I have super sweaty hand... I like the clear matte's texture, but I still feel is a risk to use it as my products...

    I have a question. How do people make sticker sheets where the stickers are already precut and ready to be taken off once they are purchased? I see people use the circuit machine to cut out the stickers entirely but does the machine also cut enough that it stays on the page but the stickers on it are ready to be peeled like what you have at 9:34

    Yes, it’s called the “kiss cut” method. The Cricut blade setting can be adjusted to just cut a selected area from the top layer of sticker paper.
