using Lincoln Excalibur 7018 electrodes to make a multipass weld. I grabbed this piece of scrap I was using for a previous video and it already had 2 tig weld passes on it. Today, we add about 9 more beads of arc welding aka stick welding beads and discuss hand positioning, rod angle, and other stick welding techniques

I have had to use welders a lot in my life with no real training. Now at 63 I still am awe struck at this kind of talent. Never had bad failure but what I did was not pretty. This is an awesome site you have here and it makes me want to get back into it on a hobby level. Thanks a whole bunch.

I don’t know if you guys know how much you are helping with these videos but I’ll tell you they really help a lot. I’m 66 and weld a little on pipe pens and implements and just for fun. If you would have told me when I was young that I liked welding I would have laughed. I’ll never be a pipeliner but I like to do something to the best of my ability. I’ve been watching several different welders videos for about three months and you can’t believe how much I improved. Also the little tips about working really help. I’m glad you guys are sharing your knowledge.

I have edited down 100s of hours of videos so I know and I truly appreciate ALL of the extra effort and time that you put into your work to share it with the rest of us. Merry Christmas!

I loved to stick weld! only mig welded 2 times and I sucked! I love the weld pattern you make! my dad who welded 3 shift at the mine said if you do it right the slag will lift up in a curl and just fall off! like it did for you! great job! welding large projects were like Zen meditating and the hours fly by!

Jody: Found you and your store stumbling on eBay. Your efforts here are huge to us guys that weld for the bright lights and fumes. Ordered your "big pack" and I'm tacked "welded" to your DVD's. Many thanks and please don't stop sharing with us. Your down-to-earth comments are great!!! Listening to your side comments are like standing next to you in the shop. Your no "BS" about welding and set the book aside ...and get at it.... is huge to hear. Makes me laugh and learn at the same time. And that makes the best teacher/instructor you can find. Many Many Thanks.

I've never had to have welds tested but they get a pretty good test in the field and they hold up. I hope to get to tig someday too. Not sure I can justify a 4th machine though.

Have a Merry Christmas Jody, thanks again for the videos to keep me sane while healing after nicking the tip of my finger off in the table saw! Can't wait for some hood time now that my gloves fit again! It was the weirdest thing too, as I know how to use one safely and have never had a problem in almost 30 years of owning it. A huge bobcat came out of my barn and distracted me for a millisecond and one little touch was all it took to put a 30 degree bevel on my pointer finger, LOL! Could have been so much worse, so I'm grateful for that too.

I love 7018 rod yes it is harder to use when you first learn but when you master it it is hands down the best rod to use. I like to use it on big pipe and sch 80 xh or 120 I use it to fill it seems to save me at least two passes of 6010 and after I got used to it I caped everything with it to the point where using 5pt just seemed a lil harder to use and I felt as if they were ugly caps but it was just me. Love the videos they are the most useful professional and you can apply the tips to every day welding tasks. Im a certified welder got my own rig and work in the oil fields when ever I want lil tricks or tips I go to your channel keep up the good work

Good to know about porosity and how to get that out. Was doing some welding for the first time on my snowplow mount yesterday and moving up to building posts/hinges for my gate today now that I have some experience lol. Pretty much easier when you get the idea you can jack the AMps up a bit more than some recommend. Did some bear wrasslin when the darn stick was just tacking on like a bear. But, now that I am comfortable turning it up a bit.... The 7018 1/8 Linc rods at 140 Amp sound like just the ticket! Thank you!

Typical top shoulder characteristic with E7018's although I worked with one guy and he was the only one I have ever worked with that could put his final multi-fillet pass on and you would of thought he had used a general purpose electrode, this guy was my inspiration to better myself although i could never get the same appearance and mine looked exactly like yours. Enjoyed this video yet again although would love to see you do a flange on pipe using all positions, overhead, semi over head, vertical to incline finishing in the flat at 12 O'Clock. Wrist action is the key and I'm sure all those that love your videos me included would love to see how you go about it when using a general purpose electrode. Always gave me great pride when people would say how did you do that and keep the fillet leg size equal all round the diameter. Be easy to say practice makes perfect but I think we never get perfect just better which I'm a big believer like yourself that if you make yourself comfortable then things become far easier

Great great great!!! Started welding school 3 weeks ago. With their instructions and your tips I'm already on lesson 4 horizontal stinger t joints. We have covered horizontal and overhead plate. Any tips on starting and finishing a vertical t joint? Using 5/32 6010 rod I run between 99-105amps

Very nice vid. I think this would explain why I couldn't weld a bolt to a plate the other day and the rod kept binding on me.Thanks.
