today a lot of vfd´s are dispatch with a Siren (only) or in a combination with a Pager

Ours are incidentally pager activated, there’s an old minitor 2 in a locked cabinet, wired to the siren box. Cool to see around our station when we get a dispatch, some of us (depending how we ordered them) have our pagers on the pager tones, and alert first, some of us have our pagers on the siren tones, and alert a couple seconds later.

@@jaysmith1408 In Germany, we have Sitenensteuerempfänger, meaning Siren Controll Recievers. They are hooked up to the relais for the Siren. The controll reciever is on the same 5-Tone combination as our pagers. When an alarm comes in, our pagers go of after recieving the tones, but the controll reciever waits for a specific, long tone after the 5 tone combination. If dispatch sends a channel blocking tone, the Siren stays off. If the "Feuer"(Fire) tone comes after, the controll reciever switches the siren relais accordingly to the fire siren signal (12s on, 12s off, and that 3 times). If the "Warnung der Bevölkerung"(General warning to the population) tone comes after, the reciever switches that signal (2-2.7 sec. on, 2-2.7 seconds off, repeat one minute long). Then there is the tone for "ABC-Alarm"(CBRN-Alert), but thats not really used anymore. And theres the tone for "Entwarnung"(All clear), which is just switch on, after one minute swich off.

@@jefftherailroadenthusiast8889 I know its a year old comment but 5 to 6 us great timing for a volunteer fire Department to be able to get the people there and engines roaring out. Alot of volunteer fire depts can take up to 10 to 15 minutes to get rescue out to you. So anywhere from 3 to 6 minutes is great response time for a volunteer dept
