Becoming a guitar player was something I had to work at, not that I ever became great but I had to work at the skill set. Some people don't, it just comes natural and you can tell.

Stevie used 13's but not standard....and he's tuned down half a step. He used .013 - .015 - .019p - .028 - .038 - .058 and would apparently go to 12-58 if necessary. When you tuned down half a step, it wasn't super floppy but it would probably feel like a set of 11s in standard on a 25.5" scale length. That's quite a bit of tension but not impossible.

SRV must have very strong hands, considering that he used the highet gauge strings he could find. R.I.P.

Listening to the same song ... in this case Voodoo Chile ... performed at different venues is useful with SRV . You see it played at different tempos and because you "know what to expect" on that song ... the jam aspect starts showing itself . The differences when he pops a string and keeps moving ...where or when he decides to repeat something and his bandmates go right there with him . It may not make for good reactions to repeat but I have watched this song done by SRV in as many different versions as I can find . Not because I am addicted to the song or SRV ... it just happened to be the only way those particular aspects if his artistry showed themselves 🤷🏻‍♂️

Stevie Ray has a famous brother named Jimmy that's famous but not as much as him. Jimi Vaughn had a big hit called "Tough Enough". Great moving song. He has a better voice than Stevie and plays a good guitar.
