That’s helpful - thanks for doing that. One of my screws did move, the other will not budge and im afraid im gona bust the screw. I even used a torch and got it hot - wouldn’t budge. So my .308 is at 3.5lbs and my 6.5CM is at 5.3lbs and im gona stop before i break it. The infuriating thing is that ATA makes this gun with an adjustable trigger and Four Peaks in AZ imports it and sells it that way. Savage originally advertised it as adjustable - but then their lawyers got involved when they discovered you can adjust it to the point where the hammer falls on its own. So they modified it and made the trigger 5-6lbs non-adjustable. Their customer service told me this about a month ago. Regardless, my .308 will shoot 3/4” groups with a variety of ammo and its well worth the money. Thanks again.

That is great information. The one screw on mine was really tight, but it broke loose. I really want to try the ATA. I hope you will stay tuned. I'm getting ready to show my bullet catching rig. Looks Rough but works. After testing whitetail cartridges and bullets I hope to step up different animals types and bullets for that game type. I like knowing what a bullet does in more realistic situations or worse. Thanks for commenting. Give me thoughts on guns, calibers, bullets, and tests. I love to learn and play!

If they were going to make it non-adjustable they should have at least made it lighter than 5-6 pounds. I was considering getting one.

I contacted Timney Triggers and they said that the savage stevens 334 has been highly requested by customers. So hopefully in the near future Timney will have 1 for this Rifle.

It shouldn't be bad at all to swap. But would be golden in that rifle. That's been my #1 surprise rifle for a budget gun.

@GodsCountryShootingOutdoors I adjusted the trigger down to 3lb easy. The over-travel screw seems to be pined or something which I'm not worried about because the weight went from 6.2 to 3lb, just by small adjustments on the actual trigger pound adjustment screw . Mine moved with ease, so I'm good with that, lol.

Pretty good trigger once you get the lbs down to 3 to 4 lbs. I really am glad I took a chance on it!!! The lord blessed me in that purchase for sure!

All adjustments on the trigger are on you if you do it. Gun manufacturers can't stand lawsuits that can put them out of business. Having said that I adjust about everything I own. But I know it's on me. Occasionally I get one a bit too light and have to adjust it back up.

They are absolutely going to put all the blame on the gun owner. But I also agree that just about every rifle I own, I have worked on the trigger. I guess partly because I love the sport and partly because I like to tinker. But I am not above taking a gun to a gunsmith if neccessary. But what is the point of having a gun that doesn't have atleast a decent trigger!!! Thanks for the comment.

Some are suggesting that mine is an early model and that they have fixed the trigger lbs now. Not sure I believe that. I will open mine back up and look at it again. See if I can think of another trick!

Not really seeing another option. But I would see what a gunsmith would charge to change out that screw. For the price point and potential it may be worth it. I wish I could've come up with something for you.

The federal power shok 140 grain bullets have been performing really well too in the 6.5 creedmoor. Like over 2.5x expansion and close to 100% weight retention, usually 97-100%.

Threading out increases, threading in decreases. Alot of people say that can't get it to move but praise the lord, mine did break loose to adjust. Also I would try quarter to half turns at a time then check lb's. Repeat to you get it where you want it. If you like the videos and channel I'd appreciate you subscribing, sharing and liking. Hope it helps.

You may try a heat source. A propane flame gently applied just enough will usually do the trick. Apply flame for six seconds try to loosen screw if that doesn’t work apply heat again for six seconds. Do not over heat. Be gentle. I’ve done this many times. Just be patient until you get your correct result. Manufactures put a binding agent on the screws so a little heat will loosen it. Good luck.

I really like the gun. It is probably my most surprising purchase in the last few years. I like mine well enough that I'm looking to have it threaded in the spring. That is once I worked on the trigger. I guess I was just blessed to get one that I could adjust. I would explore what a gun smith would charge to work on it. But in the mean time I am going to try to find replacement triggers for the Stevens 334.

Sweet. I struggle with 3lbs or less. I about lost my trigger finger in about 1998 a month before bow season. The lord blessed me to not loose it but 3.5 lbs is about as low as I can go and still feel it decent. I hope you enjoy your as much as I am. Looking forward to pushing it and me past 400 yards in the spring.

Just to inform KZreadrs making copycat videos: The screw you guys are adjusting in these videos is intended to take up slack in the 2 stage trigger. It's not designed as an adjustment for trigger pull. The screw that would be used for that is machined off in the 334 so that it can't be turned. Moving the stage 1 adjustment is essentially pretensioning the trigger - starting to pull it before your ever even put your finger on it. Yes, it works to reduce poundage. It can also cause the firearm to discharge accidentally or be unsafe if dropped. That's not a guarantee either, but anyone attempting this needs to be aware of the risk and also aware that this is not a trigger weight adjustment screw. Finally, the screw is very soft metal. Be sure to not only use a hollow ground screwdriver, but one that fits the slot really well. There are no replacement parts available from Savage or ATA if you bugger it up. Also, the engagement surfaces in the trigger are coated with black oxide or QPQ or whatever the finish is... That stuff will wear down over time and smooth out. I have no doubt that these triggers will get a lot better with use.

I appreciate that information and hope it does help others. However I didn't copy from any one else. For me there are scenarios. 1. I did some how change the trigger weight by adjusting the or a screw on the trigger (which I did) 2. My trigger pull measurer was highly in accurate and inconsistent giving me a false reading. 3. I am a liar. To that point the main reason for me doing these videos is not to get famous but to try and show Jesus Christ to people like me that love the shooting and hunting sports. I gain nothing from misleading! Also I realize that I am responsible for changing the weight on my firearms. I personally don't adjust any trigger under about 3.5 lbs.

The bit about copycats was meant for other KZreadrs watching this and thinking about making their own video. (There's already a couple out there). I didn't mean any disrespect with my comment. I just think it's really important that people deciding to make trigger adjustments understand the potential risks involved. I don't know why Savage decided to neuter the correct adjustment screw.

I don't blame you. The trigger really isn't bad at all for that price point. But adjusting it to what poundage feels right really makes a difference in groups doesn't it. I'm really considering getting mine threaded. Planning on pushing it out past 400.
