Steven Tyler & Chelsea Tyler - Remember (Walking In The Sand) Live 2008 & 1980

Steven & Chelsea Tyler & Emmy Giarrusso singing Aerosmith's cover song Remember (Walking In The Sand) for the opening of the Thayer Academy Center For The Arts in Braintree, MA on October 18, 2008 and in 1980. Along with his daughter Chelsea on the right (19 yrs-old at this time), past student Emmy Giarrusso on the left, and guitarist Colin McDonald on the right who does an excellent solo, past graduates performed as well, some going back as far as the Class of '57. Chelsea and his son Taj attended Thayer Academy as well & Emmy now attends Berklee College of Music in Boston. The new Center is to further promote the visual and performing arts at the academy. Sort of a summer song, I thought I'd combine it with Aerosmith's 1980 live version of it since it's performed so rarely (which I can't understand why). This show was January 25, 1980 at Capital Centre in Landover, Maryland (also referred to as Largo). Joe Perry is not at this show since he had left the band in the summer of '79 so Jimmy Crespo took his place here. Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer, and Richie Supa on keyboards are also present. The song is featured on their album Night In The Ruts released November 1, 1979 on label Columbia Records (Sony/SME). Mary Weiss, lead singer of The Shangri-Las, sang back-up on the album. It is also on their 1980 Greatest Hits album. [I have this entire concert uploaded.]
About the song: It was written by George "Shadow" Morton who produced it for the girl group The Shangri-Las. It was released in 1964 with a B-side "It's Easier To Cry" on the record label Red Bird. It was a hit reaching #5 on the Billboard 100 chart. The group was from Queens, New York City, and being that Steven is from the Bronx (then moved to Yonkers), and around this time he was playing with his band The Strangeurs/Chain Reaction, he said he saw the group and met lead singer Mary Weiss. The Shangri-Las are also known for their #1 hit "Leader of the Pack" in 1964. See here: • The Shangri- Las - Rem...
I like the old version for it's kind of tortured singing (as in a torch song), albeit druggy, and this newer performance. It's also a treat to see and hear his beautiful daughter Chelsea who currently sings in her own band 'badbad'. She is the daughter of Steven's ex-wife Teresa Barrick. Her band: badbadmusic.com/
