It's brilliant how they rewrote it to be so extremely kissing his ass, they are making fun of him directly amf he doesn't see it. Mind you its only funny if you know the behind the scenes stuff.

Seagal is a gold mine of humor. You could also try James Nguyen, maker of “Birdemic” and other unintended gems of the hilariously bad variety.

You mustn't be old enough. 75 to 84 were SNL's golden years. The 90's was mostly meh. One or two good sketches here and there but never a full show of greatness since 1984.

That was weird .... Steven must have been a very strange child.

Seagal really has no clue what self humor is, where Arnold is this super likeable friendly guy and loves comedy. Arnold was good at what he did, and yet didn't take himself that seriously. He was confident in who he was and knew what he could do. Seagal can't even admit his weaknesses today, with the fat, lazy, mumbling Z list joke he turned into. Seagal is so inferior feeling and scared that he can't joke about himself at all.

Compare Will Sasso's Crouching Cops Hidden Badges to a Seagull movie, also, just do all of Will Sasso's Steven Seagull skits because they're funny. There's at least 3 others, Steven Seagal's America, Steven Seagal Stand-Up and a Lowered Expectations Video Dating ad. You could replace Steven with Will in a lot of Seagull's movies through CGI and editing magic and I bet nobody could tell the difference, Will does Seagull better than Seagull, he also does a pretty good Kenny Rogers.

Apparently some super agent in Hollywood was taking akido classes from an unknown Steven seagal (agent taking akido classes already sounds like a stereotypically douche). So the agent that some other Hollywood big wig that he can make anybody a star (ala Trading Places, sans the trade). The agent picked seagal and the rest is history. It really is the only coherent explanation for the man having a platform all these years

I've been a guitarist for almost 40 years, Seagal is NOT a musician. He knows 3 or 4 chords and a how to play a few pentatonic lines very badly. I've played with all kinds of musicians from Rock to Blues to Funk to Jazz. The only style I've never played is Classical but that was my choice. I know great musicians that make me feel like I began playing yesterday, far better than I could ever be and to call Seagal a musician is an insult to guys like Tim Pierce, Andy Timmons, Eric Gales and so many more all these guys are around my age. Steven Seagal is NOT a musician and NO he cannot play guitar. Steven Seagal being a musician is like saying I'm an electrical engineer because I know how to wire a light on the ceiling of my living room.

Maybe Steven needed to learn the Zen of things himself

@@alexlantz I´m 52 years old and I can tell you that between 1988 and 1992 nobody made fun of Seagal, nobody! He was the real deal at the time but I admit that it´s a shame what he had become.

Oh but my aunt’s ex-fiancé studied aikido because of steven seagal though, I remember he said he realized all the movies were whack after 2 years of rolling around the mats

Segal at this time would've likely beaten Arnold as Arnold is only a bodybuilder, not a trained fighter, to my knowledge.

I watched this live on Saturday night.. bc i used to plan my Saturdays around it as a kid. You could feel the vibe as a youth😅😂 one thing you can't say is, Steven Segal isn't interesting. If he wasn't, he wouldn't be making movies 30+ years later. 90s, Midwesterner, action movie star. We are talking about when the so called "man's man" was still a valuable characteristic. I think you misunderstand the comedy dynamic, you have to have one guy that’s not so funny to set up the funny guys. Maybe this sketch bombed but that doesn’t mean Segal is an awful person, which he might be, a lot of people in Hollywood suck, but he was married to that lady from married with children so he must have a sense of humor and he might not be able to kick everyone’s ass but I’m sure he can kick someone’s. He entertained the shit out of me when I was a kid, I’m not one to grow up and feel dumb about that and then try and belittle him because I’m insecure.

I think this narrator is ignorant. Seagal is a legitimate Aikido master. The first American ever to teach at a dojo in Japan. Also, bodybuilders are not fighters. Your suggestion that because Arnold has bigger traps and better form at tricep pushdowns, he somehow can beat an Aikido 7th degree black belt in a fight is laughable. Also I don't want to explain the obvious to you, but often in comedy it is funnier and intentional to play a straight guy who doesn't get the joke, as Seagal was doing. Have you not seen when Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro came on the fake Joe Pesci snl show?
