Benny is the new king of Vocalese!! I hear strains of Kurt Elling, King Pleasure, Eddie Jefferson, and more!!

I was trying to search laufey but ended up listening to this. I love laufey but this i like more.

I love how he goes from natural to falsetto, back and forth, cleanly !

I love me some Benny Benack. I saw him leading a jam session in NYC. He was on trumpet, then he switched to drums, then keyboards, then he got on the mic. I said wait one doggone minute!!! And I call myself an entertainer with my little ohhhh's and ahhhh's. 😂🤣😂

So nice to see these young, talented people putting this crazy world on hold, while they take a break and make some beautiful music. Music is a healing force. Play on young people - PLAY !

Benny Benack carries on the tradition of vocalese pioneered by Eddie Jefferson and Jon Hendricks and his scatting, intonation, timing, is so super hip. The whole arrangement is A+ caliber and the bands playing is also hot hot hot. Great solos and great ensemble work all around!! Watch this band and watch this singer--who also happens to be a super hip trumpeteer as well!!

Phew! I’ve probably watched this a dozen times and am more amazed with every viewing. The arrangement is a great reinvention of a timeless tune but the star of this show is Benny. He is everything that a jazz and pop vocalist should be and just keeps getting better. Best of all is that he has plenty of chops and yet it is always tasteful. Glad to see a true original talent in today’s world- keep on Singin’ and Swingin’!!

How did I miss this?! This is arrangement is absolutely nuts man. The groove, that ensemble work is outstanding, Bennys clean ass vocals, that sax/vocal soli from his Gentleman’s Sing competition.. All of it was top notch

Wowoowowowowow so incredibly beautiful the band is great, the band is fantastic what a great arrangement and Benny kills it. He just kills it who else could sing like that incredible.

Wow, Steven! What a vision for the style and overall approach to this standard. I was listening with my jaw agape until Benny finished the first chorus. I was wondering if the straight eighths meant it was going to be double time but it was sooooooo smooth. Great job by Benny and the band. It must be so good to be together in the same room. You all did such amazing work virtually but it can’t beat face-to-face. Keep it going and let it rip!!

Benny's voice is way too good

That piano makes me wanna just sink in my bed listening to those wonderful chords. And the singer just fits the song so well. And the saxes are just amazingly beautiful. I wish I’d seen this sooner.

Beautiful arrangement with re-imagined chords! I also liked how the song went through some subtle modulations! And the vocalist reminds me a bit of Mark Murphy. 5 stars out of 5!!!!! Would love to see the full score!
