@@RosalieValentineCHENG Well, luckily, you can break that rule by putting a torch at your feet before digging up. That will break the sand or gravel on the way down. Kinda hard to suffocate when all that sand is simply hovering at your feet. XD

Theory: The real reason Steve is dumb, or acts dumb, is because he is actually insane and traumatized. By traumatized, Steve had a home, like any minecrafter, but when Steve travelled somewhere, he struggled to find his house. Steve has been killed by monsters and lost his items, and he had seen the horrible fate of his dog, cat, or horse. Another reason could be that the stuff he worked on so hard had been destroyed (Burnt, exploded, etc). For the insane part, The reason why some things are hard for him is because there is to much stuff going on his brain, and maybe going on a killing spree. Other reasons are the in the following suggestions (what some Minecrafters do) -Kill animals and baby animals - Burn villages -Kill Villagers -Make things explode -Kill friends beside Alex Note: This is what I think and you could call me crazy but it’s just me, and sorry for the errors I have made in this comment.

Steve was lucky with that, it could have been lava or a group of monsters Or monsters standing on gravel with a pool of lava surrounding it.
