If you’ve ever wanted to achieve enlightenment, or at least get a glimpse on your spiritual path, then do we have the LEAP show for you.
Today I’ll be talking with Steve Taylor, Phd, senior psychology lecturer at Leeds Beckett University, the author of numerous books on spirituality and psychology, ranked one of the 100 most spiritually influential living people by Mind Body and Spirit magazine, and the author of a fantastic, please read and digest slowly books, The Leap.
And that’s just what I want to talk with him about today, about the psychology of spiritual awakening, and how we can all begin to access it.
That, plus we’ll talk about the ego emperor, the Buddha and a raft, the wonder of Walt Whitman, bass guitar and a rock-and-roll lifestyle, the importance of Van Morrison, and what soccer, television, and Manchester United, have to do with anything!

Another beautiful conversation. I loved hearing about Russell Williams' moment of awakening with the horses followed by the profound teaching about treating even inanimate objects with love. This brought me right back to one of my most profound experiences. About 7 years ago I walked upstairs and suddenly fell into an experience of being not only my body, but also the floor beneath my feet, the wall in front of me, the window beside me, the tree outside the window... I was literally everything within my field of vision in that moment. I laughed as though I had just discovered the most hilarious hidden secret in the universe! ...and now, as I recollect that experience, I tear up with gratitude for having had that moment. I will, from now on, treat everything with love. thank you.

Actually, I've known Russel Williams for many years. He's a steady, unpretentious, down to earth man . He said that after he'd had the experience with the lead horse, the circus animals, the lions and tigers, recognised a difference in him. Some years ago, a few minutes after I'd been talking to Russel on the 'phone, I was walking across my living room and was immersed in an exquisite sense of beneficence that was truly extraordinary. I didn't swear once the rest of the day! I felt it would be somehow arrogant to swear in the wake of such awareness. I'm sure I was sharing a moment of Russel's constant state of being. Nothing ruffles him because he says he's always in a state of such peace. The thing is, we can't just conjure these thngs up. I've had various moments when I enter into what are called 'altered states of awareness'. They've always been spontaneous and unexpected. I haven't sought to procure them again but I've been glad they happened. Thanks for the lovely interview. Can I also thank Steve Taylor for charging the affordable price of £30 for his online course rather than the outrageous amounts of money most 'spiritual teachers' are charging for their services these days. Sadly, egalitarianism seems to have been usurped by 'personal abundance'.

Great interview with Steve, it became gradually more engaging as it went on. Is his book going to have an audio edition?
