Hi, I’m Steve from Scotland. I plan, film and edit travel videos both at home and throughout the world, with all the work done myself. I try to go a bit beyond the normal tourist route, exploring less-visited places and would be honoured if you'd come along as well. But please don't expect an expert guide, if that's what you're after, this is probably not the channel for you. What you WILL find here though are my 100% honest impressions of what I see along the way, albeit as a layman. And I always believe the star of any video is not me, but the places I visit. WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I was born in Glasgow but have lived in Carnoustie, Dalgety Bay, Stonehaven, Edinburgh, Montrose, and further afield (Salamanca, Spain & Devonport, New Zealand)
WHEN DO YOU UPLOAD?
Saturdays at 10am Scottish time. Occasionally a bonus midweek video will pop up.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
I film with a GoPro11 and my iPhone12. I edit on iMovie and use epidemicsound.com for music. I also use canva.com for thumbnails etc.
WHY DON'T YOU SPEND LONGER AT DESTINATIONS?
The usual suspects I'm afraid - time and money! Hotels especially these days make my eyes water like a true Scotsman.
WHERE'S ALICJA?
Alicja will feature as often as possible, but I'm afraid she has a proper job so it can take weeks for our schedules to match up.
DO YOU PAY FOR YOUR OWN TRAVEL?
Yes I do. I've only ever accepted a complementary ticket as compensation for a previous problem. All my opinions are frank and honest reflections of travel as I experience it.

It's my income, I can't do this for free.

I used to list my email address but felt bad not having the capacity to respond to everything so took it down (and I got a LOT of spam so missed many genuine messages along the way).

I don't like to upset the flow of my videos, so I don't even include mid-roll ads anymore (at significant loss of income to myself), so I prefer not to include sponsorships either. I'm open to a small slide at the start/end of each video, but I don't want to get into talking about products, it's something I don't like as a viewer myself (especially as a viewer who pays for KZread Premium). So it's probably a polite no, although all of this goes out the window if you offer me something which can give me the chance to make a video for my audience that would otherwise be impossible.

Totally agree! Prefer this and Steve Marsh to anything on TV at the moment.

This is one of the best videos I've watched. The personality of both Steve and Scott (and Alijca) comes through. Magical.
Wonderful video, lads. And Alicja was a brilliant referee. I'm so jealous of all these train trips you're able to do. Our train network here in Australia isn't nearly as interesting. I visited Fort William a few years ago with some Australian friends who were living and working in Glasgow. It's such an amazing place.

The first train I ever went on was in Australia. I have an aunt that lives in Springwood, Sydney that’s a lovely journey & one I made regularly to hit the wonderful beaches around Sydney. To this day I still haven’t been on a U.K. train.

No the route had nothing to do with it. He keept going looking for buses or trains and he didn't stop too book a hotel to get rest.
What an absolutely fantastic video - there were no losers in that contest, brilliant stuff altogether (although it reminds me why I don't ever travel by Coach/Bus).
Absolutely loved it! Two big kids having fun. I was convinced Steve had won, it all seemed to go so well. Well done Scott, what a victory! Steve very gracious in defeat but I know he won't rest till he has his hands on that trophy! May there be many more of these - really great fun!

What a great challenge! That guest house did you no favors Steve, but you gave it a good go! Your video is definitely motivating my wife and I to get back to Scotland. I am so jealous of your train system. We just don't have anything to compare over here in the USA, nothing like the comprehensive system there in Scotland. I love watching the train travel videos, well, and the buses and planes as well. The scenery is just stunning!
Easily the best video of two blokes riding around Scotland on buses and eating cake I've ever seen 🤣 But seriously this was a great watch. That one-minute advantage Scott had at the start was always going to be difficult to claw back. If only one of your challenges had been to shoot a video of a guy running across the street with a TV, things could have been very different...
Brilliant. What a great fun probably exhausting challenge. The film location challenge was the exact one I had in mind for you. Such an iconic moment in Scottish film history. @@leonb2637 weeeeeell I'd have to say no. You all have "blue" or should I say "bleu" passports soir shouldn't really count.......yet!!!! The Netherlands would be good. Small enough and with a relatively good rail and bus network ......and a bit of cycling but I would say that 😁🏴🇳🇱
Oh I love Scotland.. Especially seeing Glencoe and Fort Augustus was a nice unexpected surprise. Made me think back to January and the amazing fish and chips I had there and the stunning wee Loch Ness boat trip as well. I have to go back soon.. You do such a great job with these videos. It's just so relaxing to watch, it gives you loads and loads of tips on where to go yourself the next time you're there and especially if you're a foreigner traveling mostly by yourself, it shows you how accessible these places are and that you don't need to rely on organized group tours only :) like in another of your videos, a place I wouldn't think of and you just take a train, the ticket is good for the ferry as well, no biggie.. Whenever in Prague and down for a wee break, feel free to reach out and the beer's on me ;)
What a great video and thanks for introducing me to another channel. Love that you pointed out Kinghorn and Kirkcaldy, my gran lived in Kinghorn and we spent all our holidays travelling up from Liverpool to there and now my dad has moved up to Kirkcaldy so it's always great to see it.

Not only was you Video clearer and Audio more informative, your editing skills are always a winner Mate. My absolute favorite drive in Scotland, on the A-82 going north from the Green Welly Stop through Rannoch Moor, Glencoe and Ballachulish, ending at Fort William. Another fantastic video Steve, thank you....always brings back happy memories for me!

@@killerqueen9298 Only if I was maybe 35 years younger I would consider such a walk. But you're correct and I do know it is a lovely walk for a friend from Potsdam and her mother did a hike from Crianlarich to Bridge of Orchy and their photos were stunning.

12:08 I feel your pain, my GoPro is forever freezing and nothing I can do other than take the battery out then put it back in again. Great videos from both of you really enjoyed it. Really thought you should have won that one Steve time wise as there was a bus from Aberdeen to Dundee at 00.20 getting into Dundee at 1.40. I am sure the referee would have allowed you free accommodation when you arrived might have helped on cost challenge as well. Good fun looking forward to seeing more

Great idea for an annual contest! And helps both channels too. Pity about the bumpy highland roads but there really should be a railway from ft William to Inverness- they only built the bit to ft Augustus before giving up. You'll need to come up with a concept to win next year though!

Highly enjoyable jaunt Steve. Ive been following your channel for a while now. My European rail travelogue started in 1977 with interail. I once went to benidorm by train and bus🥴.
