Journey was formed in San Francisco in 1973 by former members of Santana, Steve Miller band, and Frumious Bandersnatch. Lack of early success prompted them to hire Robert Fleischman (1977) as lead singer of the band. However, disagreements between Fleischman and manager Herbie Herbert resulted in him leaving the band before his first year ended.
On October 10, 1977 the band hired Steve Perry as the new lead singer. Their biggest commercial success were between 1978 and 1987, with Steve Perry as lead vocalist. But the differences of opinion between the band members as to the type of music the band should play, continued. And eventually Steve left the band in 1987. Arnel Pineda the current lead singer was hired in 2007 after "testing" a few other candidates.
Since its formation, the band has produced 25 gold and platinum albums, plus the fifteen-time platinum RIAA Diamond Certified, 1988 Greatest Hits album (all but one* of the songs, in the album are included in this video). Songs included: Only the Young, Wheel in the Sky, faithfully, I'll be Alright without you, Any way you want it, Ask the lonely, Who is crying now, Separate Ways, Lights, Open Arms, Girl can't help it, Send her my love, Be good to yourself, When you love a woman.
