Steve Nash KILLED The Team That Ditched Him

Спорт

When Phoenix and Dallas squared off in the 2005 playoffs, there was more than just a trip to the Western Conference finals on the line. This was about pride, and vengeance.
The matchup featured Steve Nash - fresh off winning his first of two straight MVP awards - leading the revolutionary Seven Seconds or Less Suns against a Mavericks team that had discarded him less than a year earlier.
For the full oral history of this 10-month saga between Nash and the Mavs, check out this link: www.thescore.com/nba/news/197...

People are still sleeping on Steve Nash to this day. There's a reason why he's my favorite point guard of all time. He could score with ease, but he was such a better floor general people forget how great of a scorer he was. It's straight-up wrong that his name isn't in the conversation for the best shooter of all time (yes, it is Steph Curry, but Nash is in that conversation).

I see the current Nuggets as what could’ve been for Nash and Nowitzki: reliable scorers and passers, surrounded by defenders who can rebound and space the floor. Oh, and a great coach in Mike Malone who’s not afraid to make adjustments, much like Don Nelson

@@coreylakshmanaswamy4741I honestly think that they maxed out their potential when they played in Dallas together. Nash excelled in a fast pace, pick and roll heavy, full court system in phx, while Dallas played in a slower style with dirk having isolation touches when needed. Nash was creating for others in phx while Dallas had shot creators like Finley and Dirk. Also devin harris played a huge role for Dallas when they got past San Antonio especially guarding Tony Parker which Nash couldn’t do much of through out his career. I ultimately think Nash being in Dallas couldn’t have gotten them past the San Antonio spurs because of that reason, and San Antonio could’ve possibly 3peated if not for 2006.

"Why can't Steve Nash play like an MVP for the Mavs?" Mark Cuban asked - easy answer, he can't because the team built in Dallas wasn't the same as the one Phoenix had. Just like Dirk said, they were better off apart to grow themselves separately.

@@RoyLimisAw3s0me About 10% of all NBA players have won a title. It's rare. Making it to the NBA, being a superstar, winning two MVPs, leading a teams to great records and multiple conference finals, being a Hall of famer, is winning in every aspect. Sure Nash didn't win a ring but he'd have won if he didn't run into generational talents like Kobe, Dirk, and especially Timmy in the playoffs year after year. Sometimes he bested those guys too. Winning a ring isn't for everybody. Out of all the players in the league right now, only LeBron, Steph, KD, Kawhi, Giannis, and Jokic, all top 30 players, have won as the best player on their team. Nash not winning wasn't a result of his own shortcomings as much as it was simply better competition. Imagine having to play Tim Duncan in the playoffs eight times over the course of your career.
