I’m a 60 y/o retired guitar player. It has taken this long(all my years) just to be able to appreciate the talent and imagination being displayed here. I was stuck to commercial pop/classic rock/metal and similar stuff. Jazz has always been unpalatable for me. Steve was an exception. He had everything. Dixie Dregs-What If ….still one of the best albums ever released!

This is the first full set of music, that I've seen with Jerry Peek on Bass. This is obviously not a great recording and sound source. But beautifully well played, on the band members parts. Masterful and executed perfectly. I love music played this well. And obviously before the age on stage tuning machines. And hot as Hell par can lighting.

When the crowd, most of whom didn’t know about Steve Morse, heard the first drum fill off the opening track ‘Take it off the Top” they erupted and cheered the rest of the set, it warmed my heart then like it still does today. Then to see Rush open up with The Big Money and continued on from there it was an amazing night of music, for sure.

The peak of the SMB's powers? Are you kidding? So it was all downhill from there? Only six SMB pieces were played at that concert and they all were all from their first album ("The Introduction" 1984). Nine of the pieces played there were reworked Dixie Dregs/Dregs tunes. Two of the pieces played there were covers ("Jesus...", "Jessica"). This was the very beginning of the SMB. The best was yet to come.

What happened to Jerry Peek?.... soon after this album, Steve Morse changed bass players to Dave Larue.....can anybody tell us why and what is Jerry Peek doing today?

I think he had a career as an engineer at some big company like Rockwell. Really smart guy who also happened to be a great bass player.

Cameras angles are terrible. It’s the Steve Morse Band not Rod and Jerry band. Good lord. Epic musicianship and Steve at his peak though!!

Steve's peak? Nah, not even close. He kept ascending for many years. I agree that videography of Steve's bands typically leave Steve fans wanting more Steve. This one is actually better than a lot of them I've seen.
