JB been a Miami fan since the 80s and ever since the Nevin Shapiro mess they have never recovered....the portal is ruining college football altogether IMO...there's no more pride for the school you play for...those Miami cats of the past had a special bond even after they left but all that is gone.

Hi Coach, thanks for the great content. I'm from Europe (London) I have 2 questions: 1 - Do those players actually STUDY anything? Do they get degrees? Or are they just pro football players paid to represent (promote?) a University? 2 - How do colleges/universities make money off football ? TV rights? Seats? Merchandising? Thank you to all who can educate me.

@@jeanfourcade they get degrees if they graduate. Majority of the good players do go to the NFL early and finish their degrees later. They do have classes as well as prepare for the next level of life during, and/or after football. If you're a really good player, you can leave after 3 years in football. Most other sports are one year and done, or straight out of high school to the pros

Everyone made it all about Deion and CU with the high transfer numbers when it was obvious that college recruiting has completely changed with NIL, transfer rules where players don't have to sit, and schools being allowed to pay. In this new world, it doesn't matter how many players transfer from a program because those programs should only be judged with how well they play the next season. All about replacing talent that decides to leave for another program, so schools will need to work harder to pick up players who is looking to leave from where they are at.

We will see if he is correct but I think how the last two cycles have gone for Miami (top two rated classes ever) that Miami will scale down the transfer portal. Mario needed a couple years to restore a roster that was poorly constructed. Year 3 should show significant change in win totals with all the acquisitions that have been made. 10 wins should be the floor IF Mario decided to get help on the sidelines for his decisions.

I remember the day when playing for the U was a brotherhood...even after they left they always came back and tried to teach the tradition of playing for Miami....Shapiro debacle ruined that team for much longer than anyone ever thought it would and the transfer portal has all but ruined that pride for playing any university away...now no one knows where the hell they wanna play...instead of having some NUTS and competing for your spot its just run and tried to find a spot somewhere else thats easier.

many kids in high school were able to be freshman playing varsity football, so they come to college like man i need to play now i need 1,000 yd or this many TDs to get NFL scout to look at them.. Well Deion brought in scout to tell his players because of RB Dillion Edwards left because he wants 1000yds despite scouts saying fresher legs are better with great outlook.. Deion did kick the old players off he said he is bring 3 pieces of LV, and then some other dogs the 2nd yr.. so most kids wouldn't have made a difference the one that stayed are back ups or training squad.. I'm proud of JB for finally seeing the light

A lot of the transfers look like players who weren’t starters anyway. It’s really not a big deal. Backups going to be backups elsewhere. Someone commented “you can’t lose 34 players and expect to win.” This isn’t the NFL’s 53 man roster. College teams have around 90 players on the team. Considering there are only 22 starters out of that 90, losing 34 depth players who may have never touched the field in 4 years isn’t a big deal.

And 90% of those 34 players that transferred out were replaced with more talented players via portal/recruiting. The dude saying Mario doesn’t recruit is a certified clown. JB, I think you missed it now it has nothing to do with how well a recruiter can retain. I think it has more to do with how well that recruiter can get people paid. A kid playing for his favorite school, gets an NIL deal but if they have parents that work and somebody wants to double that money... You have to take it. Getting to Big money in the league is not promised. Caleb Downs is blessed l, he'll get a ton at Ohio State...could still get more bjy returing to Georgia and will still go to the league. But for a rotation guy, getting $30k because he's at a power 5...it pays to go from contributing at Miami and taking an opportunity at Tx or USC. And if I play for a group of 5 and I have a Chip on my shoulder. Hell yeah, I'm leaving Charlotte and going to Alabama p welcome Cam Howard, ROLL TIDE let's get it.

  • @TightSPORTS

It's not the school's job to turn players into men, that's something parents are supposed to do. There is so much money a stake. Your guest have a problem with the family coming in as an entity, but that's ok that's why several school will suck and will continue to suck because they just don't get it. Stop pocket watching the players because the family is fully aware of the pockets of the program. You cannot blame the parents, for Christ sakes, for directing their kids to make the best possible decisions for familia. No need of crying. Just learn how to make adjustments on the fly, because a new day is here, the portal/NIL may be modified, but ain't much gonna change in terms of money. Learn how to deal....or watch NAIA football.

What a profound message late in the discussion. I am a Miami fan, but I am concerned about the direction of the program. The Miami supporter in the conversation was quick to find ways to rationalize Mario’s roster management. To say that only TWO kids that have transferred out could help the program is sad/irresponsible/misleading. This kind of narrative contributes to the uncertainty of roster construction in college football. Then he criticized the culture of single parent households for the talent that teams across the country want desperately. We can ALL agree that Mario is a phenomenal recruiter. The question remains. Can he develop?
