It's not a double dribble. The first bounce was from a deflection or a steal so it is not counted as a dribble. The moment he holds it with his both hands and has clear possession then it would be his first dribble which he did.

That's not a double dribble signal. Her palms are turned up which is an official's way of communicating that the player didn't have control of the ball yet. This basically means that the first "dribble" was not a dribble but the player attempting to gain control of the ball.

Actually, it’s not her area of responsibility to make that call. Referees have assigned areas to watch and call the plays so there wouldn’t be a time when all three whistles blow and make three different calls on the same play. It was the responsibility of the referee who made the Technical Foul to make that call. She even signed to that referee “double dribble” then a shrug 🤷‍♀️ Probably why the assistant coach was laughing behind Coach Kerr lol

Deflection=not a true dribble=not a true possession. This is like the example that happens all the time.. a player passes to a teammate, hits their hand and bounces on the floor, then that player grabs the ball with 2 hands, and proceeds to dribble down the court. This happens all the time.

So I'm going to use just one hand to dribble to the basket, so I can hold on to pretend to throw and dribble again. OK.

So from one play, they missed a call and then threw a needless tech because they're some weak ass refs.

Except they didn't miss a call. it wasn't a double dribble. He knocked the pass down gained control and then dribbled. Don't let the crazy angry man fool you. Use your brain.

i believe he deflected the ball and it doesnt constitute as a double dribble as he didnt perform an additional dribble after the deflection. good 'miss' call

Don't think that was a double dribble. He stole the ball with his left hand, then the ball bounced away from him, and picked it up with his right hand while the ball when the ball was still mid bounce. Then he took his first dribble.

There should be a compilation video of Steve Kerr losing his $h1t. There’s one video of him being thrown out of a preseason game. Ref says “Steve ur outta here!!!” Steve yells “I didn’t wanna be here anyway!!!” Makes me laugh every time.

Refs need eye checkups. They missed an inbound call where the guy who took out the ball was the first one who touched it inbounds.

refs need to do their jobs instead of handing out Techs.

Let's tweak the scenario a bit: Let's say the ball got tapped by the player from a steal then bounced once from the floor then the player get a hold of the ball with both hands. Can he dribble it or not? If yes, then this scenario is a non-call.

i'm not seeing the travel here. the player went for a steal and slapped the ball to the ground before he got full control of it and took his actual dribbles.

@@kinkymist9880 Provided it was actually the right call. This call could go both ways. Besides, we both know from the way the Warriors were playing, they weren't going to catch up, much less win by 10. It was an unnecessary tech. He should have spent that energy whooping his Warriors instead.
