As Steve would say himself, theres no point in constantly preaching to the choir. U gotta take these 'poor audience reactions' if u wanna reach those still napping, and by this reaction id say Montreal is clattered in the fast asleep. This is one of my favourite short clips of Steve for this very reason, the contrast between the info being touted and the audience reaction to something they've most likely never heard before is like 2 opposite ends of a spectrum. Reminds me of first hearing Bill Hicks and not getting why he was so adored......sleepy nightmares lol

  • @Jdabomb93

Let this be an example of never giving up and always striving to be the best you can be. This was one of the toughest crowds I've ever seen, but yet because Steve stayed focused and didn't let them get to him, he started making quite a lot of people laugh. Most people would have gave up immediately at the severe stress involved in this. I watched one guy in the front row throughout the entire video, and what I noticed was, he didn't laugh or really smile for about most of the show, but towards the end, Steve had him giggling a bit. No matter how small you make an impact in this world, it's always important to stay positive the best you can, because even though you might not see it, your actually making real change.

    3 жыл бұрын

@@mduke2k What I'm suggesting is we try to keep a little perspective. I agree 'cancelling' things we don't like is not the way to do things. I'm also saying that a) it isn't a new thing (but today's connectivity means unprecedented opinion reach) and b) that we might be exaggerating it a little (partly because of the former, but also because none of us are that good at accepting contrary opinions). Consider Bill Burr's bit in Paper Tiger about the people who complained about The Upside casting Bryan Cranston instead of a real paraplegic actor. He uses that as proof of 'his country' having gone mad (or similar wording). Doubtless many of his fans will sit there going 'yes Bill, you tell 'em!. You tell 'em!!' Bloody snowflakes.' But in an age where tens of millions can find others who share their views, then express those views at the touch of a button, is it really such a surprise that some people thought that? And how many people was it? And how many expressed criticism of the casting vs how many petitioned for it to be banned? The film was still successful and the vast majority of people still think it is fine for an able-bodied actor to play a paraplegic. So, you can focus on the tiny minority who thought it was terrible that Cranston played a paraplegic, or you can maintain perspective, point out this was a niche view, and politely make the case (if it actually needs to be made) for the casting of Cranston in that role.

This is cringeworthy. Steve is a legend, his introduction here was lacking, his execution here just wasn't timed right because of it, and as a result the audience are just sitting there mostly confused. It does pick up a bit towards the end, thankfully.

Ive been all across Canada but Montreal has some of the most arrogant people on the planet. I remember in a day and a half I had 3 different Montreal natives stop what they were doing only to ask if I was American. Then smirks, giggles, attitude, then return to their goings on. I was off put by the first one and last one particularly, two middle aged women(house wives out shopping types) and they were laughing about something walking away from shops and as I passed heading towards the shops one reached out almost as if to pinch my shirt and said "Hey, hey uh are you American?" I replied "Yeah" and that one said "see, yeah, right lol" and they walked on. 2nd one was a buzzed up bar guy with 3 or 4 friends who asked from down the bar but did so more normally but that group did ignore me completely after I answered. The last was a worker in a book store/restaurant place and I asked about a book and he waited till I had turned to go looking for it and he said "your from the states eh..?" and at that point I had noticed this shit and without looking back said "Right O mate" and he mumbled something almost loud enough for me to hear but by then I didnt give a shit what his dumbass was on about. circa 2008

It's weird to see him doing the concept stuff. That opening flattened the room, I wondered what the payoff would be but he just drifted into recycling some of his regular material. I'm unsure if he was experimenting, or if he was pissed about the booking in some way and messed his segment up deliberately.

i think the man has the right to say , fuck you all can you not see how stupid this all is , he's a very smart man , its something ive come to understand as natural intelligence , where people from an early age say , ''well thats fucking stupid'' even though accepting it is the norm . the perfect example is religion . a child who exerts this will face difficulties , when the opposite should be true . those of us who know this can only hope that these people will eventually become the politicians , rather than politicians children , who have no basis at all

Boy, the Dutch part hit deep. I'm Dutch myself and used to be in a band. We had 2 gigs and we stopped, lol. During these gigs, only the people we were with vibed to our music. The rest of the crowd, however... They just stood there, arms crossed and looked at us, like "What else is there? When are you going to give us something good?". It was like a death stare. It was awful. If you don't like it, leave. Otherwise, at least try to enjoy it.
