Steve Hackett's keysman Roger King plays Genesis Firth Of Fifth & One For The Vine on his ProMega 2+
Roger kindly took time out from Steve Hackett rehearsal for the North & South America tours to show us how he has been using the GEM ProMega 2+ as part of the Genesis Revisited sets.

Firth has to be the greatest piano intro of all time.

Isn’t it wonderful that the Genesis Family don’t gripe and litigate over this stuff being performed and celebrated no matter which one of them it is? So refreshing.
It's incredible that Tony Banks wrote Fifth of Firth's piano part at 22 years old.
You know everyone in Hackett's audience is hanging on every note because that's just what we do. Never once have I heard a clam from this gent. Nails it every time.
Such a pleasure to watch someone so damned GOOD.
A master keyboardsman. Plays with such understatement and sensitivity. Captivating.
This is Tony's finest composition. It's also Steve's finest solo. Steve is so fortunate to have been able to enlist Roger in this endeavor. Sometimes, the stars align a second time.
Early Genesis with Gabriel shaped my entire artistic upbringing. Saw them live a few times. Game changing music for me.
roger is my fave in hackett band!!!!💓
Wild that Tony Banks wrote Firth at 22
Roger really good musician just right for Steve's band been with him for a few years now really good live
Unassuming blistering keys man. With Gary O'Tool on drums they are the meat in stage performances. Truly worthy of inclusion in what must be one of the most exciting and satisfying line ups of all time.
Extremely talented musician.
Roger King is a brilliant keyboard man and the lynch pin of Steve Hacketts band
I love the style of this man!
Beautiful ending of One for the Vine. ✌️
Impressive! Great grand piano sound! Thanks for sharing that.
wonderful wonderful music
Wind and Wuthering was an amazing album and it is not among the top three Genesis only because the first albums are ridiculously and outrageously good.
The one dislike is from Tony Banks

Now that Genesis have officially called it a day, how awesome would it be for Tony to make an appearance on a Steve Hackett show?

So many reasons why that will never happen.
Dam I wish I had tried harder as a kid on those piano lessons!
Beautiful!
I still treasure my older Promega3. The action may be a little lighter than the 2+ but it's still marvelous, with physical modeled Fazioli sound.
Trying to find more info about Roger... Brilliant gig last night with Steve Hackett. I'm a piano addict and being playing over 50 years myself, still want to evolve and it's fantastic to feel inspired by his playing. Awesome, thank you for recording this.

@@paulwiffen3847 Just saw him at Friars / Waterside Aylesbury 13 September 2022. Foxtrot this time but did Firth of Fifth so that was the icing on the cake. Note perfect intro. Now I can also SEE what notes are played!👍🤣
WOW! It's a peek behind the curtain. Thanks everyone who made this post posdible.
Wow! An absolute master at his craft..
Love this guy
Roger é simplesmente sensacional!!! 🙌
Really good, thanks
so good !
In LA a few years ago Roger gaffed the intro, just smiled and continued. This is what a true artist does. Takes the risk and gives the very thankful fans what they want. Unlike Tony who has refused to play the intro for fear of making a mistake and bruising his fragile ego. Roger is a legend!
Fantastic!
Roger is the bomb!
Yes...lovely!
Damn. Perfection.
Fantastic
GEM promega!!!! Great General Music!!!
Excellent
Simple as it is( hahaha) loved it from Brasil
Ah I was wondering what the lower keyboard was in Roger's rig. I understand there's a Roland Fantom and a couple of Novation Impulses as well.
Pity there's no left hand side on the audio !!
Wonderful that This video only has sound from one side. That could easily be fixed even if just to mono into left and right.
I play guitar, but when I fantasize I can play keyboards Firth is one pieces I can play in my mind.
Only coming out of one channel .
The sound in mono !

One more. Even Tony's Pro Soloist gives a bad notes (bugs)... Now every free VST instruments are much better than those what bands could use 40 years ago. Don't forgot about this please.
Is that Gary O’Toole on drums again ???

I thought the same then I pulled my headphone connector ever so slightly out of iPad and hey presto both sides working 👍
Sound is disappointing. (Only one side of stereo)
¨bit of a myth¨ ? my solem theory as a Banks fan , is that he didn`t actually write the entire piece based on different interviews responses, therefore it was quite not as fun for him to play it live, supposingly, if it was your greatest child?. I`m incined to believe everyone in the ¨main circle¨ surrounding Genesis, such as Steve and Roger King know about this ¨bit of a myth¨
no sound -.-
I just miss seeing Tony Banks and Hackett and Peter all together. This is just Hackett leading a cover band.

This is Steve's band..... meaning they play Steve's music....all of it, Genesis and solo work. Steve has every right to play Genesis stuff from the bands best era. The current Genesis and Peter largely ignore that period and Steve and his band are the only ones keeping the best of Genesis alive.

Could not disagree more. The line up Steve has fostered over the last 10 years is now producing the best versions of these songs I've ever heard and am eternally grateful for his dedication to producing new material without neglecting the legacy.
Why is this one-legged?

@@delby66 Roger plays the full piano-intro of "Firth of Fifth" live on stage and Tony doesn't. Did you ever think about the reason? 😉
I've seen Steve Hackett dozens of times since I first saw him at Hammersmith circa 1980, and have seen a variety of hugely-talented session artists feature in his five decades of solo shows. I do however think that though incredibly talented Roger King is, his prominent Fck Brxt sticker on his audience-facing keyboard over the last few years is pretty poor and unprofessional, given any UK audience will be made up of both stances and the last thing any of us fans wants is to be reminded of this civil strife whilst enjoying the wonderful music of Steve and his band; or that those whom did vote Leave, feel they are not equally welcome. Very disappointing. The guy needs to grow up.

Couldn't care less tbh, and as it royally screwed a lot of musician's livelihoods I wouldn't expect anything else.
