They weren’t acting, they became Laurel and Hardy. Bravo. Both deserved oscars
Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly you really captured the essence of Laurel & Hardy. It was magical! Thanks for remembering these great stars.
They did a brilliant job - I haven’t stopped crying at this movie! Both loved performing and they had such a special friendship-wonderful
As a fan of Laurel and Hardy I was skeptical but I've got to admit Coogan and C.Reily have done a good job. The mannerisms are spot on.

Wen Ollie turns to Stan and says I’ll miss us wen we’re gone , Tears 😭
Steve Coogan is extraordinary in this role. In the UK we have grown up with his characters and his masterclass talent in creating them. To just understand how versatile he is, watch this film followed by his stand up as his alter-ego Pauline Calf. You could not imagine they are the same person. If you are American and are not aware of how much Steve has done over the years, then please take the time to discover all of his work.
Love seeing Laurel and Hardy in the modern media. It's kind of surreal, but I'm happy it's happening since they should never be forgotten. They are the gold standard of comedy and always will be.

It's about time the genius that was Laurel & Hardy has been recognised in film. I can only hope this film does them proud.

What a wonderful movie :)
Steve and John perform magnificently as L and H and do them the credit they deserve. Well done.
Just watched this show earlier the other day on Hulu, and I enjoyed it so much. Gives me a whole new respect for these two actors for pulling off something so difficult. They made it look easy and flawless. I will be watching it again!
if ever a joint Oscar was to be given these two should have got it....fantastic peformances
The film is sublime . Whilst the male leads are utterly superb great credit should also go to Shirley Henderson and Nina Arianda as the wives who both turn in fabulous performances . This is a really great film that Hollywood could never have made ( which is ironically fitting given the shabby way Hollywood treated them both )
My brother and I saw all their movie shorts in the 1950s. Well after seeing this movie, it was flawless. I have never seen a movie where the actors liked so exact to what and how the originals looked and where. I could not tell the difference between these actors and the real champions of comedy. Must see movie.
I watched it today. Laughed and cried. Beautiful performances. It was a film about friendship and love. Stunning.
John C Reilly, defines versatility , greatest actor of my generation
Saw this film the other day to say it's brilliant is an understatement !!
I met Coogan as an extra in his Santa Fe film Ideal Home. Nice guy, glad he's getting more American recognition.

I just saw the movie tonight, 5 out of 5 stars! Brilliant. Coogan and Reilly were wonderful. I thought I was watching the original Laurel and Hardy.
Fantastic. So well written, perfectly cast, the talent of all four actors, (Stan, Oliver, John and Steve)is a pleasure to behold. What a great film.
Steve Coogan is perfectly suited to Stan

Brilliant movie should have had more recognition. And like others was tearing up the last few minutes. Sad and funny film one of my top ten favourite
these are two great actors and comedians very talented but my god """LAUREL AND HARDY"" I just cant get my head around anyone even trying to act like them --total legends
I want to see this movie . Best friendship ever , an important piece of 20th century story.
I’ll tell you why I loved this movie, particularly Mr. Reilly: at the end, I said, “Oh my god, that was Dr Steve Brule...wow. I totally forgot....” He was fully immersed in the role, both of them just great. A touching tribute, respectful
The film is simply wonderful, I laughed all the way through it and at no time was I laughing at the actors, they were so transformed into the characters that the laughter was pure Laurel and Hardy. I haven't seen anything better in recent years, I mean that. IT is also very emotional and you will find yourself with a tear or two. John C Reiily was mzing but so was Steve Coogan and he didnt really have the prosthetic's it was ALL brilliant acting
Youve done us proud Stan from a Ulverstonian
Perfect Choice of actors this will be amazing
just back from seeing the film at the cinema it truly is fabulous incredibly moving and funny really just about their beautiful relationship and admiration towards one another..go and watch it you really believe it's Stan and Ollie up there! Wonderful just wonderful!
John C Reilly is such a talent, so under appreciated. . . if he'd get away from Will Ferrel he'd do SO much better. Coogan is ALWAYS a class act and consumate performer!

Just seen it whilst coming back to London from America.....brilliantly done!
4:47: "And I'm not that familiar with Laurel & Hardy from, obviously, back in the day..." Just sad. All of their work is on film, and anyone can watch it at any time. The idea that because some movies are old, they are inaccessible is sad and absurd. Get interviewers who know a thing or two about Laurel & Hardy, please.

There were no drugs, curse words or PC moments to highlight this movie to the voters. On the other hand the scene where Ollie is in bed with a serious heart condition, and can't warm up....and Stan climbs in the bed to warm his friend brought a tear to my eye- and joy to my heart! Long live Laurel and Hardy: "Why don't you do something to HELP me? MO

While I don't begrudge John being nominated for a Golden Globe, I can't help but wonder why he was nominated and Steve wasn't.

John played Oliver; an american, featuring in american films with an american accent (his own accent) Steve played Laurel; an English man, featuring in american films with an american accent (an accent that is not his own) Ron Burgundy; you're just jealous you never got nominated for a Golden Globe. All you managed was a nominee Golden Schmoe. ;-)

Great movie it went to No 1 here in England in box office for a while its show how popular they are still are to me greatest comedy team ever by far you could laugh at them before they even speak by just looking at them.

Watched the film. Absolutely brilliant. Moving, melancholy, sad, and obviously funny. Quite simply, laurel and hardy were the greatest comedy double act of all time.
I loved the film - overall set design is tremendous style that wowed me. I love these two actors - who were fantastic. One of the best, sweetest movies I've seen in a while.
Used to watch L&H as a kid and I'm only 34. My dad recorded their stuff and I loved it! Just saw the movie and liked it alot. More comedy and acts should go back to the old school simplicity like L&H! JCR is really handsome and totally dissolved into the role and I laughed at the recreation of the boiled egg and train station skits.
John C, Reilly never stops surprising me, he was fabulous and the film was awesome.
I'd love to see the Robin Hood movie realised with the original script and Steve and John playing the roles that Laurel and Hardy were meant to play
They really look great playing the late great, iconic comedy duo Laurel and Hardy
Laurel and Hardy where the greatest comedy duo of all time seriously compare to the idiots nowadays that think there funny these two where so ahead of there time love all there movies.
Lord, I loved this movie.
It's almost creepy how much Steve Coogan looks like Stan, and I say that as someone who appeared in a Clearwater, Florida newspaper as a boy for my impression of Stan at a Laural and Hardy fan convention.
I loved the movie and when it comes out on tv I’m going to watch it over and over

My two favorite character actors. Steve Brule & Alan partridge. I would love John & Steve to do more movies together. They always bring a smile to my fave and i love their chemistry
Just got back from the old Cannock cinema to see this and what a great film and the likeness of Steve and John to Laurel and Hardy is amazing. The cinema by the way was packed and it was just like the old days in there.
Im a die hard Laurel and Hardy fan since the age of 5. Thats over 50 years ago. I didnt know weather to see this because it obviously wasnt the original cast, and i couldnt picture someone else ever filling their shoes. But my god what an excellent film it is. Both actors were incredible and for me John Reilly excelled, as Oliver hardy. Thats not to say Steve Coogan wasnt way less impressive, because this was the best performance of his acting career. Im no softy, but i was sobbing like a child at the end, and i defy anyone not to shed a tear after watching this all the way through. To put it simply, the film and actors deserve every award going for what is a masterpiece. Absolutely superb.
None of the theaters would show the movie here in Wilmington,North Carolina. That made me angry.
Such a brilliant movie. Well done to all those involved!
I’ve been a huge fan of Laurel and Hardy since I was a boy, I can’t wait to see this movie, when it becomes available to stream on amazon or Netflix!

I loved this movie. It was a very clever and top quality. I am a big fan of Laurel and Hardy.
I must say that this film really impressed me. Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly work very well as Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, and the film manages to be not pitiable but honest without lapsing into fake sentimentality.

Fantastic movie.
wonderful movie
I was introduced to Laurel & Hardy, The Three Stooges, and Abbott & Costello by my ‘dad’ Harry (He wasn’t my biological or adoptive dad.). I must say Laurel & Hardy were, and still are my favorites. They laid the groundwork for future funny man and straight man routines.
I have seen it and it is fantastic.
Brilliant combination
👩🏻💻My mom turned me on to Laurel and Hardy when I was young, 5 or 6 years old (now 66) and haven't stopped laughing ever since. We watch Flash Gordon before going to school, and George Burns & Gracie Allen, Jack Benny. The good times go on and on because I can find so much of it now on KZread. These two gentlemen were quintessential Laurel and Hardy and I have watched the movie "Stan and Ollie" several times. In fact, I watched the preview on KZread and bought the movie sight unseen. 🙋♀️😘😳🤗🥰🇺🇲🇬🇧
