the grandpa in the beginning is awesome
Where I'm from, "keeping it real" means being straightforward with information without being rude about it. No sketchy jokes, no mind games, no assumptions; and if you want obnoxious people to leave you alone, give them a direct ultimatum instead of spewing out petty insults or threats. It's the basis of reptile culture.
The woman with the EBT card is what attracted me to this series. People like her. You can hear the truth in their voice. DOPE SERIES! Keep em coming!
She real for talking about not wanting to be on Food Stamps. I feel her. Social mobility is hard in the US and almost everywhere.
Love your work! Keep it up.
@2:38 - That was covert shade hunty and it was sooo smoove, Ryan was like did he just...??? LOL!!!
i'm mad at how much of my time i spend watching and re-watching his videos. so good.
@2:38 the SHADE!!!!!!!!!!

that lil ol dude in the beginning gives me LIFE

Love this show
"Are you keeping it real?" "I'm keeping it really real."
Loved this ep. I can relate to how folks nowadays saying 'if aint on Instagram then it didn't happen'. That pisses me off to the with degree. No I don't want to share every moment - good bad and ugly- with you. That don't mean it didn't happen. It just happened to me and it was my reality that ain't defined by you. That's how I keep it real. Social media has a place in my life but it ain't my life! Ima sit down now lol
you must not watch stereotypes cause it is very diverse and Ryan speaks to a range of people
I always love the big dude with the white shirts comments. He is always on point.
Ryan is so damn funny. Love it
the girl at 2:48 and 3:10 they are the ones that keep it real. They really know what goes around.
Ryan Hall for president
A lot of people know what "Keeping it Real" means but very few people do this day-to-day
Love that you shoot by my alma mater Hunter College!
Haha that lady at the end kept it real
Great video
This showw is my fav. This episode really talked to me.
Anyone who says they are keeping it real 100% are lying. We all put on a bit of fake when at friends, work or anywhere. You might do it to try and fit in or just trying to be polite and not afend someone.

What do you equate to faking? Are you referring to the way you would talk with friends compared to the way you would talk at work?
@TheGhostFace187

Pretty much yea. I've been around some proper posh people and had to talk a little different and I suppose you could call that faking it. I don't mind as some of those posh people probably sometimes fake it to when around me to seem like they aren't so posh. I think one thing you shouldn't really fake around people are your opinions and morels.
LOVE
she took out her food stamp card!!! lol
The old man and hot sauce were the realist haha
I keep it real. No lying to no one! My opinions and thoughts are how I exactly feel. Sometimes, I sugarcoat things I say but that is for the safety of the people around me. I don't want to hurt feelings lol

When keeping it real goes wrong
"Ya know what I'm sayin, ya know what I mean?" Umm....NO!. Hot sauce just straight up said she would rob you with no hesitation and she wonders why she never gets hired and is on food stamps
@CaptianBlackSwagger

People like hot sauce rob BECAUSE they never get hired and live off of food stamps, dumbass. You think all people in the hood rob just for the fuck of it? They do it because that's their greatest potential for profit and therefore paying bills. That and selling drugs. If you had no money and couldn't even get hired by a fuckin fast food chain what the fuck would you do?
@markjabari

CaptainBlackSparrow Ask yourself fool, why do people dont want to hire her? she probably has a criminal record. who caused that criminal record? she did it herself. It's ridiculous that you are trying to justify stealing you must be stupid or brain dead
@SuperLalalablablabla
10 жыл бұрын
CaptainBlackSparrow ''What would you do?'' Now this is where consciousness and moral comes into play. You reap what you sow. Robbing is never the answer. Not according to the law, not according to one self. People who keep pride to themselves and stay ''real'' by keeping their values and morals, grow to higher levels and will get what they ask for. But that's what KEEPING IT REAL really is, keeping it real to yourself. Since you're making excuses for these people to rob, you're saying these are things they wouldn't normally do but now are ''forced'' to do. This is where you're wrong. They're choosing to do those things. And that is the point where they stop ''keeping it real'' to themselves. Cause in the end, what is ''Keeping it real''? Not how real you keep it towards others, but how real you keep it towards yourself. This will eventually project on others. But it starts with oneself. Just like with love, love yourself so you can love others. It all starts with the self!

haha exactly
@sunnilocs .. 100% agree with you!
There's that token White dude at 0:45. The videos are shorter this season which doesn't allow more people to shown. So far this season, it looks like Ryan Hall is only at Harlem where the residents are mainly Blacks and Hispanics. In the previous episodes, they're showing few of the same folks. If the budget allows, he can go to other places in NYC to get different perspective from all types. Like "What's keeping it real" means to a White dude in Wall St. or Chinese immigrants in Chinatown, etc.
Haha Hot Sauce don't play
The guy with the obey hoodie is all hot air
Hot Sauce done been on like 4 eps and she is bout dt life. Watch out for Hot Sauce!
Hot sauce got that struggles Dame damn damn
Keeping it real = Speak your mind

That sis @ 3:40 is a real ganster. I dig the way she does her shit!!!!!
Yo the woman at 3:10 has the exact same facial features as Questlove. Tell me I'm wrong
there are so many interesting people on the streets of New York
LMAO
I'm really surprised Hot Sauce said "this, that and the third". Thought that was slang that only Rae and Ghost said back in the 90's, lol.
This reminds me of Dave Chappell's keeping it real skits.
keep it real
With that attitude hot-sauce, you'll only be good on fried foods!
I don't even know what's real.. I'm just being real."- Herbert Anthony Stevens the IV
Yes I watched a lot of those videos :') But in one of the videos a man asked the same question as me and there was people who was explaining that he takes only black people. I didn't pay attention to that before, but know I realize that in every video the most of the people are back.
real recognize real
2:04 ryan has nail polish on?
First thing's first I'm the realist.
The shade he fucking threw 2:37 X'D ROFLMAO
"Watch out for hot sauce she will straight jack your shit!" Comedy!!!!!
Hot Sauce for president.
No one ever keeps it real. Everyone, when you're around different types of people you show a different face; everyone!
I dig it mama - I don't get how people can actually enjoy the moments of their lives when their so busy taking pics and hash tagging and upload pictures. There is no way one can truly be present in the moment and on social media at the same time. I usually tell people when they look up from their phones. ...ummm you missed it. They're like what??? I just shrug. SMH
Ryan do you have your nails painted?
That first guy totally reminds me of Amiri Baraka
when did swizz beatz become an interviewer lol
3:01 damn.
