Steps I'm Taking To Combat Seasonal Depression This Year

Ойын-сауық

As Game of Thrones would say, "Winter is coming." For myself, and I'm sure many others, that also comes with seasonal affective disorder, "SAD" or Seasonal depression. Here's what I'm doing this year to be happy in the winter. If you're not familiar with seasonal affective disorder, it's a mood disorder that happens in late fall/early winter and subsides in May. This is due to the Earth's rotation and lack of sunlight in the spring and summer months. The disorder can affect you in a variety of ways. These are depression, changes in sleep patterns, increased appetite and weight gain, fatigue and low energy, social withdrawal, difficulty concentrating, and loss of interest in activities.

Just a note about the SAD lamp for viewers, definitely build up the time using it and don’t go over 45 minutes per day in the morning otherwise it can cause insomnia, headaches and hyperactivity! Great advice.

Along with these tips the best thing I did this year was get a SAD lamp and get prescription vitamin D, 50,000 IU (the gel capsules not the solid pill). I had been taking regular 1,000 IU ones for 5-6 years and never noticed a difference until I started taking the prescription ones this month, I only have to take them 2 times a week, they were $7, and I feel an immediate difference in my mood and energy throughout the day and later in the week.
