Stepping out is one of the worst things we can do at the plate.
It is very common, especially with younger hitters. But how do we fix it?
We hit great in batting practice, zero stepping out, but as soon as we get in the box. there goes that foot....

I see lots of kids step out not out of fear, but as an attempt to generate power.
We went thru a complete cycle. Son was stepping out. Spent a season of at bats zero stride. This improved things but found that son was having issues timing up the baseball. Reintroduced the stride and this improved his timing on hitting the baseball. This past season, he started stepping out again.

@@ProSpeedBaseball yes and now because of you I can hit every pitch!
My son only does it when a kid is pitching to him. I throw high 70s to him off the mound and there's no issues. No issues on a tee either.
