Completely out of character, just like Darkseid saying "WE" when talking about retreiving the Anti-Life-Equation. He behaves and talks like a brute cartoon villain, when Darkseid is meant to be calm and superior to anyone else in his attitude and expression.

It shows that Darkseid is mature enough to hold himself to the same standards for failing to listen. If he killed Desaad for simply saying that, it would make himself seem petty and childish. But instead, he said "Yes you did", taking some responsibility. Kudos to him.

Nah This shows how rushed DC was to compete with Marvel MCU took 20 movies to complete the Infinity Saga and DCEU planned to complete their in 5 movies 🙄🙄🙄 Zack had awesome movies but his universe was rushed.... DC soon understood their mistake and stopped. Now they are focusing on individual movies to set up the characters. Which, I think, is a good plan. Snyder's story will also be restored slowly, as evident from recent Flash and Aquaman leaks. So I think it's a win-win situation. ❤️

If by "prepared" you mean skipping all the way to Batman v. Superman to introduce both Batman and Wonder Woman. Terrible universe building. There is a reason why the Snyder Cut had to be 4 hours long. It had to make up for all the character development and world building Snyder skipped over by going straight to a Darkseid vs Justice League story. While the Snyder Cut was far better than the theatrical version, the DCEU is at a far better state than it was when Snyder was involved. He did not know how to tell a long term coherent story.

@@_sayandas The thing is, Most of marvel characters were not that well known back in the day… DC characters have always been more popular and more well known. That’s why DC doesn’t need 20+ movies to set up a universe. The only thing Wb needs to do better is continuity and keep the same actors portraying the same characters.

Steppenwolf really didn't screw up. He actually won, and Barry had to reverse time to alter the original outcome.

Also Darkseid said he wanted Steppenwolf to take over 20,000 worlds for him in his name which is a fraction of what Darkseid has done in his entire life up to this point I believe in this universe. I think he is being a bit unreasonable lol.(jk it's Darkseid so he doesn't care whether we he would've remembered what happened before the time reverse or not. Steppenwolf's victory was reversed so it wouldn't have mattered to him.)

We might see that JL part even. So far zacks line up of his dc films have opened with from the different point of views from other characters. I wouldn't be surprised if the 2nd film opens with darkseid, discussing about stepponwolf succeeding in gathering the mother boxes and the finding of anti-life equation, while in his iconic pose. Witch he was doing if you look closely enough when the portal reveals him.

In my opinion this is how you introduce your great bad guy. In one scene, Darksied is shown to be humble and willing to take criticism. Plus the voice acting for them are just amazing, “Ready the armada” is such a simple statement yet has so much power because of how he says it

In human history great leaders were the ones who listened to their advisors even if the truth was painful for their ego. Darkseid's response "yes you did" to Darsaad's "I told you" within seconds after losing the motherbox tells us about how capable Darkseid is as a leader. This is what makes Darkseid very dangerous.

The way Superman looked at Darkseid was like ‘“any time, anywhere big boy’ l gotcha’”

Plot twist: Darkseid knew Steppenwolf could lose but sent him as a scapegoat to assess Earth's potential and also as a punishment for failing before, it's a win-win. He doesn't get mad at Desaad because the latter has good vision but there's a reason he's not in charge. At this point anyone can say anything coz there's no sequel.

Nah I think Darkseid genuinely thought that Steppenwolf would win, and he would have, but no one can predict Superman coming back from the dead, and Barry reversing time

I've never seen this version of JL, but I like how the other guy says "I told you. Steppenwolf would fail." and Darkseid just admits he was wrong. They didn't make him a generic irrational dictator. He is already very dangerous due to his power, but learning from his mistakes can make him even more dangerous.

I cant believe Desaad had the balls to tell Darkseid I told you so without fear. I guess being the right hand man has benefits.

@Tin Watchman Because Steppenwolf was actually disloyal in the past, Darkseid had little love left for him. Desaad is actually a loyal lieutenant. I think the OP is right in saying this Darkseid is/would have been a well written villain going by the little bit we got.

Can you imagine how many times the Flash had to reverse time only to save his friends without their knowledge, having to watch them all die so many times.

You can tell Darkseid values DeSaad as his advisor, as in order to provide worthwhile advice, he has to be allowed to point out flaws in judgment so that Darkseid learns from his mistakes. In a way, he was truly humbled by his last visit to Earth. Ironic considering Steppenwolf technically HADN'T failed. Even in death, he successfully performed the Unity and the only reason he ultimately failed was because of Flash rewinding time to undo it.

The difference is that starscream was actively trying to undermine megatron and plant discord against his master in order to eventually overthrow him. Desaad is no match for darkseid on any level and could never hope to overthrow him.

Nobody expects anything from him, so it would be an awesome twist if after Darkseid's role was done, he stabbed him in the back and tried to take his spot, even if he failed. Starscream was also no match for Megatron on any level either(Megatron was Three times bigger), but he still successfully betrayed him.

@@tnb4509 Darkseid actually makes a point of killing Desaad in virtually every continuity and resurrecting him as both a punishment and to display a difference of their powers specifically to discourage treachery. He allows Desaad to speak freely because he recognizes Desaad's intelligence, but he doesn't trust him enough to lower his guard around Desaad. Desaad for his part understands that he is no match for Darkseid, and while he may commit small and petty acts of defiance he is almost always caught and punished.

I love the voice Darkseid speaks with. Hits his character so well!

I want a continuation of this SO BADLY but i can live with the fact that we got this at all. There was a time when all we had was the 2017 version and only dreamed of being able to see this

Correct! It actually makes Darkseid look more mature, serious and more dangerous as a villain. He isn't just another mindless angry guy. He is calculative and a strategist and the Dark God of Apokolips! A sequel with a war with Darkseid would be absolutely stunning to watch.

It is canon that Superman will only use as much of his true power as is necessary to defeat whatever foe he is facing. He is not a killer. He could have ended Steppenwolf in the first minute. We might see that unleashed if he ever has to face Darkseid. It would take that much to beat him.

Schrodinger's victory. If there's no sequel, there's no outcome to the story. Therefore, Darkseid simultaneously exists in 2 states of having won and lost. Yeah, I'm being a smartass, but then again, Darkseid *is* a metaphysical being, so it's kind of true. In fact, it could be argued that the lack of a sequel means Darkseid erased the free will of the Justice League, the in-movie universe, and even the film staff. I.e., he has the Anti-Life Equation. Darkseid became even more terrifying than he already was, after this scene.

That stare down was epic. Darkseid has no chill. He just saw his uncle's head get cut off then he steps on it and crushes it. And De'saad's face after Darkseid said "We will stop at nothing to possess it" tells how ruthless Darkseid really is. I hope we get to see more of this.

2:03 Ok can we talk about this? This is some neat-ass foreshadowing. The camera focuses on the only Justice League members alive in the Knightmare future. It has Superman center stage to show Darkseid's focus on him in particular setting up even further Darkseid's use of him as a minion. I absolutely love the changes they made concerning Cyborg and The Flash in this movie. They really brought those characters to the forefront and made them have some pretty substantial roles and it was great.

DeSaad is a weasel in so many DC incarnations, but with Peter Guinness's voice he is genuinely menacing.

Darksied strikes me as the type who would rather fight them at their best rather than worn out. That way he proves he’s the best.

The cartoon desaad would've be like "it was a fool errand •_• " only to get laser beam 2 seconds later". I like this version of desaad more.
