In this compelling story, we follow young Alexi as he faces a daunting battle for survival after his stepmother abandons him in the forest. Veronica married his father Dimitri hoping for a family of her own, but since he’s unwilling to have more children, she feels relegated to the role of external helper, and grows resentful of poor Alexi. When she abandons him, she believes he will die soon because of the dangers in the forest. One such danger is a hungry bear, who spots the boy and instantly approaches him. But what it does next is unthinkable!
