Born in Romania in 1978, forced to speak Russian as second language in grade 2. As Romania became a democracy in 1989 I asked the school to take English instead of Russian language in grade 5. Fluent in English since 15 years old. Jim Acosta really thinks only Australia, Canada or other Commonwealth countries speak English? OMG he is so arrogant! And English language after Russian language is a piece of 🍰

My grandfather who legally immigrated from Japan is probably rolling in his grave right now. Jim would be shocked to find out that he spoke English, and my Prime Minister would keep calling my Japanese grandfather Chinese. Sad sad times

The stanza's of the poem Acosta was talking about, New Colossus, the parts about give me your tired etc, was a sonnet written by woman named Emma Lazarus’ for a fund raiser to fund the pedestal for the Statue of Liberty, and didn't get much attention at the time. Later, after Lazarus' death, a friend petitioned, and finally got the poem placed on a brass plaque attached to the base. It has nothing to do with what the Statue of Liberty stands for, and the only inscription on the statue itself is on the tablet "JULY IV MDCCLXXVI" (July 4, 1776), the day the United States adopted the Declaration of Independence. Oh, and by the way, for those who might not know it, but the Statue was a gift from France.

We need standards for us to compete fairly. How come every Application says billiangual preferably. Does that make any sense in an English speaking nation. The Democrats cater to the minority and made one seem more favorable than the other because you have more Latina and we blacks are being killed by abortion.

If Stephen Miller had been representing a company and behaved like that to the press, he would have been disciplined for gross misconduct. Miller was asked perfectly reasonable questions by both Jim Acosta (CNN) and Glenn Thrush (NYT) and in both cases (watched by President Trump no doubt) decided the most “adult” thing to do was not to argue the Government's case, which is worthy of discussion, but to belittle and insult “his” audience. I wonder if John Kelly will view Miller of as much an asset as President Trump appears to.

Scrotum Leech it's not wrong though. My ex girlfriend is from Vietnam and they learn English there in school. My friend from Bangladesh speaks perfect English. Several African and Asian nations have English as a national language. Whether you like it or not, Acosta is in the wrong and made a false assumption
