Sting's never been the most animated of people. Stewart Copeland has said that Sting is actually very shy and reserved, and that sometimes (wrongly) comes across as arrogance 🤷‍♀

Ironically for such a tall man, he was always stuck in Ricky’s shadow. Glad to see him finally getting his props.

Perhaps he's just taking in the long stories, enjoying them, yet not feeling the need to laugh obnoxiously or put on a show. Perhaps the viewer considers Sting to be so important that the focus is on him and his reactions.
