Holy shit. Turning on the captions on this video is even more hilarious, at the beginning of the show with the Iron Shiek bit.

This is the best clip of Stephen on "the Opiun Anthony Show" I've ever heard! I couldn't stop laughing and it was great to hear the humble beginnings of two of Lynch's most well-known songs! You could hear the nervousness in his voice but he still sounded amazing!

I learnt about Panzers and Hitler's love of Wagner from TV, computer games and films. Even without 7 years of History, I'd get all the references

I gotta say, I think you're a little off on that estimation. From taking grade 10 history I get the references.

The nazi song would get more laughs if Lynch removed the obscure references to Panzers, Wagner, and Tom Metzger. Unless you're a hardcore nazi-geek, you wouldn't know what those things mean. Even the 'shower' reference is lost on most.

Panzer = tank Wagner = bombastic German composer of the 19th century who had (allegedly) proto-Nazi views. Tom Metzger = American Nazi sympathiser and head of various neo-nazi groups. Shower = official death-camp euphemism for gas chamber. Those Jews and others who were sent to Auschwitz and other similar places who failed the "weeding-out" process were put in the queue/line for the "showers". How is any of this specialised knowledge?
