    +z beeblebrox Amazing and "deep", as I think Jon comments right afterward. I think John Cage would have appreciated and applauded this backing-up-beep jam. (He's the one notorious for his piano piece consisting of silence -- aimed at making the audience tune in to whatever sounds are just around.)

    +Ox Nard Nope...Totally disagree with you. Please, no more of the highly marketed(or not), talentless, accompanied-by-electronic synthesizing acts that are out there nowadays. If that's what you like, then why don't YOU get yourself a different show. Like Stephen, many viewers (varying ethnicities) find this authentic, roots music to be a refreshing change and they welcome it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I get the feeling that "attracting any black audience" is your least, if any at all, concern. Lastly, what's zero chemistry to some people (namely you) may very well simply be unusual, or interesting chemistry to someone else.

  • @corsair4309

    @corsair4309

    Lol, why would I find myself a different show...I watch Colbert for Colbert, not for the band. The band is fine, only it would be nice if they weren't there only for the paychecks but for the host as well. Anyways, maybe it takes time for people to click. maybe they clicked already only I don't see it. There's a lot of maybe's hah

  • @2sentzwerth387

    @2sentzwerth387

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Ox Nard Lol, and that certainly is your right as a viewer, but many of us watch for Colbert and the band as well as the guests. That is our right as well. In fact, if it were only Colbert, some of us would not be watching. Why would you find a different show? Why would Stephen find a different/rock band? Given that Jon has made very clear in many of his interviews and his podcasts his feelings about his music and the intent behind it, (in which he said nothing about a paycheck), I feel that he was being humorously sarcastic here. Stephen has a way of doing the same thing from time to time-maybe in a different way, but same thing. I agree with the last part of your comment in that I think a lot of it is a matter of perception.

    We love Stephen Colbert and try to watch his show every night. We also love Jon Batiste and have purchased his music. We also love New Orleans and visit for 11 days every year, and spend a LOT of time on Frenchmen St. What is so terrific to us is that this video combines all 3: Stephen, Jon AND Frenchmen St.! (Although we've commented here before, we still come back to watch it over and over again.) We already have our next trip planned and have another couple who will be joining us for their first visit to New Orleans! So, we are sending them a link to this video!

    well it's 2021 and this is so fun as I always wondered about the beginning of Jon working with Stephen. I can see Jon is unsure of how Stephen will spin stuff...like face piano & swamp ass, LOL !!! so saying I love you means I trust you & that just isn't possible before one gets to really know the other...I wonder if his wife, Evie knows exactly how Stephen's mind works. But comparing Jon then to today, well he has soared to obtain all sorts of awards & public admiration. Fun stuff these two, but Jon's music is spectacular.

    I have never seen this video of Jon & Stephen back in 2015... I can see Jon is true to his heart and his music back before the Stephen show. Jon was not easily swayed by big money, and fame but went for the heart and soul. It's now mid-June/2021 and you can see Jon & Stephen truly love each other... GOD I LOVE when this happens, as Jon rose far above Stephen in fame, but Jon now remains loyal to Stephen. Together they lift all of us around the world. LOVE, it works. Sincerely Dan
