I'm an Oakland teacher who has been lucky enough to meet him at a meeting with Oakland teachers a couple of years ago. He is so humble. He wanted to know what we needed to help increase literacy. Then he donated 2 million dollars that year for Oakland teachers to purchase literacy based materials. I personally was able to purchase books for my classroom library, books for my students to start their own libraries at home, literacy based games which my students love to play and a new classroom rug where I do whole group and small group lessons. He has continued to invest in Oakland school children, whether he is building new playgrounds and green spaces, purchasing boxes of books for EVERY elementary school student for christmas, or partnering with the local food bank and no kid hungry to provide groceries for families twice a week all of the months that schools were closed during the pandemic.

I am a Steph Curry fan for many reasons... But as a retired sign language interpreter, his book about a deaf girl just increases my resoect for Steph even more. This man is truly remarkable in so many ways.
