Colbert is just satire-slamming a slow man for no reason in a forced and aggressive way. Terrible programming, not funny. Just a version of Jordan Klepper's famous show "Slamming illiterate, poor, unsuspecting high school drop outs for not knowing what the word 'hypocrisy' means". Everyone's favorite smut show. As a lover of deadpan, this is one of the funniest things I've seen in some time. Two masters of the genre working in concert. It's the subtlety that makes it, as opposed to (for example) the obviousness of a Steven Wright approach. Eminem especially is great. When it's difficult to tell whether he's pulling your leg, to the point that you have to use hard evidence to know for sure where he's coming from, it's sublime. Superb job all around!

I think the Late Show is okay, but I don’t think it lets Colbert showcase his major talents for dry humour and satire. His current iteration is just being a sincere guy, but his comedic specialty is walking up some place with his suit and glasses, setting people up for a rather boring interaction and then just blasting them with deadpan weirdness. If you like him here then watch George Bush’s correspondence dinner.
