Those guys have a show because their great journalists and great personalities. All you guys saying "he's never played" well go to college and put out some fire articles for ESPN and maybe you can relive your high school football stories out on tv when the season rolls around

We got great picks in that trade both teams are winning. Just keep winning. A 1st in 2017 and a possible 3rd or 2nd in 2018 for Bradford I would do that trade over and over again.

I think there’s a big difference between competing for the starting job In an open competition, and competing against a 1st round rookie QB; especially if that rookie is the #1 pick, or a top 10 pick. When you’re competing for the starting QB job for a team that doesn’t have a franchise QB, you have an opportunity to win the job and become that team’s franchise QB. Depending on your age, and how well you play, if you win the starting job, you can end up being their franchise QB for next 10- 20 years; depending on how long your career is. However, when you compete against a rookie that was drafted in the first round, second overall in Wentz’s case, you’re only competing to be the starter for when the season starts. You have no future with the team because everyone knows that they’re just waiting for the rookie to be ready, and then he’s going to take over the team. The team doesn’t really care about you. They just need you to help them get the rookie ready, that way they don’t throw him in unprepared and kill his confidence. It’s a thought position for the QB to be in: If you have a few years left on your contract, you might as well should just ask for a trade. You have nothing to gain from playing for that team, and everything to lose. You’re also basically putting your body on the line for a team that doesn’t want you. If you’re going to be a free agent at the end of the year, what you do is a coin toss. You can stay with the team and hope that you win the starting job and play lights out that way you can sign with a different team and get paid. On the other hand, if you play for that team on the last year of your contract and you get injured, then there’s no telling what will happen. Teams may not want to sign you for an extended contract because now you have an injury. But if you force a trade before the season, and you’re a good enough QB, you can the teams interested in you that you won’t play for them unless they sign you to an extension before the trade is finalized. Alex Smith was smart with how he handled his situation. The chiefs drafted Mahomes to be their future, but rather than ask for a trade, Alex Smith saw that he had a really good team with loads of talent on offense, so he knew that as long as he played well and stayed healthy, he could use KC trading him to his advantage. He then went out and had the best season of his career, and then signed a massive extension with Washington the same day KC traded him.
