I just wanted to say you guys seriously improved my quality of life. No exaggeration. You have given me a tremendous gift through your videos. I really fell out of love with creating because of mental health issues. I can't work because of those same problems and I struggle to stay alive a lot of the time. But seeing you both make such wonderful, whimsical, beautiful pieces of artwork inspired me to make my own things and love them and feel warm fuzzies about them just like y'all do in your videos. And now, after a few years of allowing myself to really explore my thoughts/express myself through art I am getting better (at life, maybe not at art yet haha!!!) and I really owe it to you. Art has allowed me to communicate in therapy in ways I never imagined possible. It has given me something to do when I feel happy, sad, numb, or anywhere in between. It has saved me several times over. Thank you both!!

If at all possible, I would try to vectorize the images!! That way they keep their resolution at any size and you don’t have to worry about things going crunchy. Adobe Illustrator is a really good program for that, especially if you plan to make more coloring pages/books in the future ☺️ Also I LOVE Adam’s song at the end 🥹

tip for using watercolors in coloring books is to use normal paintbrushs over waterbrushes, its easier to control the amount of water that way, oh and using watercolor pencils or inktense instead can help a bunch too

As someone who's been dealing with covid myself for the last few days... it very much does make you feel like a defeated 80 year old man lmao. The coloring book looks so cute!!! I really liked the music this time Adamo! It feels almost like some of Minecraft's ambient tracks... Sad and nostalgic but so pretty you almost forget that it's sad.

Can’t wait for it to be released! I rarely get colouring books because they either have double sided pages or very intricate designs and I don’t want to use markers on them. It’s a me problem but I like being able to colour in larger areas with markers, it’s satisfying to me. This is so perfect! And the drawings are as cute as ever in Steph’s style.

Congrats on the coloring book. If the darker blue is the only color you're concerned about, remove some magenta and/or black, so the color is closer to cyan. There's a fairly straight forward and simply way to smooth the edges in Photoshop, even for the cover, if the outlines are on one layers and the coloring on another. Plus, you can set up an action for batch processing. Bonus tip: And always print a sample before you submit artwork. 2nd bonus tip: greens and blues are the most difficult color to convert to cmyk, try to keep the formulas simple and refer to first bonus tip.

I can’t believe I missed it. I will probably end up using the ohuhu plastic sheet that came with my brush marker set under the coloring pages to minimize bleeding. I might also use a clear thin chopping mat under the page. I love the swatch sheet. I am going to look forward to coloring in Steph’s art. Would be amazing if you could also buy a digital version of the colouring book, that way you could print in in your favorite paper. And it would give me another project for my bookbinding hobby 👀

not sure how it might affect production and all the process but if another draft/version of the book is in the works it could be cute/useful to include a page to cut out and use as your page protecting barrier! I like to reuse the same piece over and over and collect colour blobs :) very excited to get this when its available either way!! thank you both for sharing your loveliness as usual!!

I like how adam said, I'm going to test the bleed through, then instantly forgot that and then got made fun of for being heavy handed :D

About the music you made, to me sounds like when you go to a place ypu have fond memories of. The behinning does sound very nodtalgic. But towards the middle it starts to sound more hapoy and present as thought enjoying the moment of that place again. Messing around and having a good time and laughing. Then at the end it starts to sound nostalgic again. As though you're getting ready to leave that place again, this time with a new, fresher memory encapsulated there. Nostalgic, but new at the same time. Its a good piece, well done!

I love that it is not double sided pages! That drives me crazy with coloring pages!

A new art supply shop opened up near my area recently and i went to visit with my pal today and i think he got annoyed because i kept saying "Oh! doodle date liked those! Stephasocks talks about these gouache in a few videos! They did a really fun video with this one!!" over and over about basically anything i could find! love you guys so much!!

It's great that the colouring book is just one artwork per paper 👍

Great video guys, I think the music you make is awesome Adamo - I'm even more impressed that you did this piece in just a couple days! It did have nostalgic vibes, but then I found it quite uplifting in the middle with stronger tones. Loved it! Also I'm SUPER excited for Steph's colouring book, the paper looks lovely and smooth, I'll definitely be ordering one. I'm also so happy that it's single side printed so that I can use markers in it (with backing paper) as so many are double side printed and I feel like I have to choose a different medium or decide which out of the two sides I can actually colour! Well done to both of you!

In my experiences, depending on the paper the colors can turn out up to 40% darker when printed. Glossy paper tends to have brighter colors and higher contrast while matte tends to flatten the color range a little bit and can turn out darker. You might be able to get away with just copying the whole color layer (after flattening it temporarily), clipping it and turning it onto Screen-mode at like 20%, just to increase the brightness

@@DoodleDate Oh ye, I make my own art prints and the paper not just in finish but also quality can definitely make a difference (like my wallet isn't happy about it but there really is a difference between cheapo and Premium photopaper 💀) Also it's good to remember that when you look at a drawing on a screen, the image is like literally lit up. So when you get that image printed, it loses that backlight it previously had, and thus can look darker

So delighted about stephs colouring book. Definitely on my Christmas list. Adam, your music is lovely, don’t underestimate how good you are at that. And you can get keyboards to plug into the computer. Even if you can’t play, you might find that you can pick up a bit, and it gives some ability to add some more subtle elements which are hard to do with your current method. When you showed us how you were composing I was stunned. If you can hear it, and then hold it in your head long enough to get it out using that system!😱. Seriously there is a real skill and musical understanding going on there. I’m very impressed and proud of you. You’ve often expressed a lack of confidence in various aspects, but please trust that we are impressed by you. You and Steph are both amazing and I’m sure glad you found each other and chose to share some of your talents with us.

Oh yay!! I always thought Steph's style was perfect for a coloring book! She's so creative with creating cute little scenes as well! And I love the swatch page idea, I wish every coloring book came with one of those! Props to you for worrying about the paper quality too. I only own one coloring book, from Brazilian artist Mauricio de Sousa (he's created the famous comics Monica's Gang, which I love since I was a literal baby), but the paper is SO thin, sometimes even colored pencils show through. It's really annoying. Anyways, I love the new project! This is going to be awesome! It already is. =)

If Steph can get her own coloring book published, 🤔 I hope Adam will be able to create his own drawing pencil/colored pencil starter pack for Adam and Steph to swatch. 🤞😊

Congratulations! I got the coloring book yesterday, the style is cute, it's a nice mix of patterns and scenes to color, the paper is perfect for colored pencil (haven't tried anything else at the moment) and being able to support my two favorite creators is a great bonus. Keep the coloring books coming, I will definetly look forward to any future ideas. 👍

The music at the end feels really nostalgic in a way. Like, reminiscent of the Minecraft soundtrack in a way? (That’s a really good thing in my opinion. I love that soundtrack.) And I love the old sounding, almost out of tune piano (even though I’m a pianist myself… so in theory I should be wanting the highest quality). I want to play this song now!!! Steph: Congratulations on the new book! You can tell you put a lot of work into it! Adam: Thanks for sharing your music with us! It was fun when you played it on stream. There was a lot of variety.

hey hey some tips for making the colours look closer to the computer screen: basically go ahead and make an adjustment layer for brightness and contrast, lower down contrast as much as possible, and then brighten your image up as much as u feel is necessary in comparison to your test print. (and ofc converting your image to cmyk!) Bcs the thing that happens with prints is that it bumps up contrast and also makes it darker, so these two are the most important to adjust. Sometimes i also adjust vibrance in Photoshop depending on how my test print came out. Now all this depends on the printer and you may need to play with how much u are going to adjust the contrast and brightness,, but ever since i learned of this, my prints have been turning out nicely (problem arises if an image is dark but it just takes more playing with) (i do this in photoshop but im sure it can be done anywhere so long as u have the brightness, contrast and potentially saturation as options to adjust

I'm so proud of you both!! I'm super hype for the coloring book!!! and adam, man, you are killing it with the music! it sounds super nostalgic and pretty and calming. I would totally listen to this as a way to calm down and take a break from the stresses of life when I feel overwhelmed. & I hope you will feel better soon!
