Steph’s influence is not just limited to NBA, its global. He gave kids all around the world hope, basketball is a big man’s game, but with his influence it inspires every kid that as long as you persevere on your skills and you can shoot even with your current height, you will always succeed. This goes beyond MJ’s influence not to disrespect. International basketball games being played nowadays has his influence in some sort or another.

@@davyjoneslocker4859 MJ was athletic and skilled. That’s what made him so unstoppable. You could use his footwork and ability to dominate in the midrange and defensive tendencies as a small player. Steph is a great athlete with great genes he got from his father. It’s not like he’s not athletic. He’s just not the leaper type of athletic. He can run all day like no other. Realistically you can’t be like either but you can just jack up a shot easier to make you feel like you can be like Steph.

Ppl misunderstand “influence” vs greatest players…Steph has more influence than anyone else. He changed the game. MJ , Kobe , magic was amazing but not many ppl can do what they did…anyone can develop a jump shot and Steph gave ppl all over the world that confidence to do it. Look at what he did this ASG against Sabrina…He’s revolutionary to basketball whether you like him or not

NO you are the one who doesnt understand the meaning of the word influence. Austin Rivers clarified it for you. Influence on the style of play now in the NBA is heavily because of steph curry. Influence on other aspects, there are other players. Influence on NBA? what does that even mean? The market would not be as big as it is without MJ, Kobe, Lebron? they alone have influenced an increase in viewers and then the salaries. Also, steph shooting 3s isnt something everyone can do. He is still very tall compare to most people, and as for people not trying to be like Kobe or MJ? I know i "tried" to do some of their moves, no i cant do it like them but not trying to be like them is dumb

MU changed the game more than Curry. Before MJ you needed big men to win championships. You needed a rebounder and post player on every championship team. Then MJ came and won without a Big man. He made the game winnable for the guards even with centers like Bill Wenningyon and Luc Longley. Jordan literally changed the game from winning with Cwnters to winning with Guards. People today don’t realize that. Jordan did it wayyy before Curry did and his influence was larger.

A point people are missing is the team success. People shot threes before Curry entered the league, but not as many as him. The fact that Curry and Klay were both lethal three point shooters, and the team started winning championships playing that style, lead the rest of the NBA to copy that style of play. Analytics started to be the dominant philosophy. If the Warriors didn't win championships then nobody would of cared much about Curry shooting threes.

The fact that Steph is still playing at such a high level, and keeping our team relevant (let alone, in the playoff mix) is a testament to how great he is. Personally, it's going to be a sad day when he retires, because there won't be anyone else like him, doing what he does. While other players in NBA history have been great three-point shooters, none of them were also multiple time champions, multiple time MVPs and setting all kinds of crazy records. That's going to be Steph's legacy.

People really need to go back and watch documentaries on Dr. J. You should watch how much severance and respect that man got from EVERYONE for what he did for basketball. The man is true class and played with a style never seen by anyone. The afro and how he helped combine the NBA and ABA is unmatched. He was a cultural icon that influenced so many players. Look when he retired how much love he got from Magic, Kareem, Bird, MJ. When he won the title with Philly the entire country celebrated it. And, oh yeah he was a great basketball player too and not just dunker, though that was another thing he was the pioneer of. Look youngsters there would have been no MJ, Nique, Cater, etc. without the great Dr. J. While I know he might not be in the GOAT conversation or maybe even the top 10 for this man to not get the respect he deserves sometimes is baffling to me. He is on my Mt. Rushmore for everything he did for the game. He is a legend and even a better person. He averaged 24.2 points, 8.5 boards, 4.2 assists, 2 steals and almost 2 blocks a game. He shot over 50% from the field. There is no more influential player in history to me than the great Dr. J.

That isn't Curry he's just the GOAT 3-point shooter. 3's were tending up every yr/decade. Also, show some love to the 94 & 95 Rockets who utilized the 3-ball inside out with Hakeem.

I picked Davidson to beat Maryland on my brackets in '07 solely because of Curry. I did some research on Scout and found out he was a three-star recruit, Dell Curry's son, and I believe he led the NCAA in scoring as a freshman or maybe it was that he led freshmen in scoring. His sophomore season was when he really became a national sensation, though. It's incredible to think back on how Davidson had the ball with a chance to make the Final Four at the buzzer against a Kansas team that had 8 or 9 McDonald's All Americans, upperclassmen McAA mostly such as Brandon Rush and Mario Chalmers, not the scrawny, overrated freshmen of Kentucky you see nowadays. I was not surprised that his game translated to the NBA.

What you're saying doesn't make sense. When KD was there, he was the Finals MVP twice( not Curry), and if he didn't get hurt, he would have done it three straight years. Nobody wins championships by themselves. It's a team sport. Curry doesn't rebound, play defense, or guard the other team's best player. He shoots threes. That's it.

Everybody always talks about AI’s influence on the culture but they always stop it there when quite honestly he’s just as influential on the game as well…he directly changed the position and mentality of a point guard. The positionless basketball point that Monica made can be used for AI just as much as for Steph. He was a 6’0 point guard in title playing the wing which was unheard of. When you hear the term “Score First Point Guard” that’s Allen Iverson doing. We wouldn’t have the Steph’s, the Dame’s, the Ja’s, the Kyrie’s, the D-Fox’s, the Prime Russ and D-Rose’s, the Jamal Murray’s, the SGA’s, the Jalen Brunson’s etc. if it weren’t for Allen Iverson making it acceptable for a point guard to be SCORE first instead of pass first a la Stockton, Magic, Jason Kidd and so on and so forth. The Jokic, Sabonis and Draymonds of the world are also able to do what they do because of the ‘mentality switch’ of today’s PG which allows them to be on the ball dishing assists.
