Step One ✔️
2023 at the East Broad Top was a monumental year. Steam is back, trains are running, and many of our most significant restoration projects to reopen the railroad are nearing completion or have come to a close. In short, step one is complete.
Now, we get ready to do bigger things!

As a native Pennsylvanian with a lifelong passion for trains and railroads, I cannot thank you folks enough for all of your hard work and dedication.
Everything yall have done is outstanding! I cannot wait to experience the railroad Ive always admired. Warm Christmas Greetings from the CNJ 113 Crew
Whoever shot this video deserves a round of applause. Excellent cinematography.
I took my family here from Michigan last August. I promised my kids when a steam engine was running we would go. Now I've told them we will be back in the future to enjoy the expansion. It's our favorite train trip we've made. Thank you to everyone that kept the EBT around for this.
A fine railroad with proper locomotive.
Dibble… a master
Keep going! Can't wait till you're up to the tunnels!
It’s incredible how much everyone involved with the EBT has been able to do; very much look forward to the future steps!
Anyone catch number 15's number plate at the very end? Wounder if thats a hint? Hmmm?

It’s confirmed 15 will be the next operating locomotive
As of June 7th 2024, the trackwork heading south is only 1,200 FEET from Jordan Summit! Keep up the Donations everyone!
Who does your editing, within the first 5 seconds I got chills. Feel like I am about to watch a war movie. Y'all are awesome and keep up the amazing preservation of history. Best wishes and keep on railroading
so at the end here is what I caught the track coming to an end on what looks like where a bridge used to be number 15 a tunnel and at the end of that tunnel is where a crossing used to be my guess is Step Two is expanding the tracks and getting number 15 back in operation

I’m pretty sure the track end that you mentioned is at the Pogue Bridge, which the team is working towards expanding to as a part of the restoration of the EBT’s trackage all the way to Saltillo
What a Rebirth! Here's to the many years of this amazing new story! Keep up the great work!
Can’t wait to see what y’all have planned and hope to accomplish in 2024. You got my support all the way!!!
1958 was the first time that I can remember being there, I can't convey my happiness at seeing what is going on with EBT today! It was very sad bringing visiting friends and family from Florida to see it even though it was shut down. The thought of it being of the past was awful. Thank you to each and every one of you. I hope 2024 is the best year possible for all of you and EBT. Happy New Year.
100% wow!!!!!!!!!!
I did a Lerro Charter here in October , this bunch is in it for the long haul . The passion every employee has is palpal. The efforts so far are amazing and the best is coming ; on to Robertsdale !!!
Cool! All of us are happy for you right here. I would like to visit the East Broad Top Railroad for the very first time one day.
Great progress and an excellent video presentation.
2024 is going to be epic!
Can’t wait to eventually see all 6 steamers running!
Great Job guys! We are all happy for you! ❤👍
You folks have accomplished so much in a short time span, and should be very proud of yourselves as a group. And I know that you are not stopping and patting yourselves on the back. You are moving forward with improving the shop area, right of way improvement and even more exciting, expanding. Plus more locomotive restoration to operating condition, so as not to beat up 1 locomotive. It's been exciting to see
Congrats EBT crew! Here's hoping more to follow!
I'm seriously wondering if they're end goal is to revive the entire Railroad

The next goal for track restoration is south to Saltillo. EBT Foundation has said they ultimately intend to reopen the line to Robertsdale and Woodvale.
Well done. Keep Going. It’s well worth it for Everyone.
Congratulations everyone on the big success! Hoping to get up there to see Steam in action!
Almost 4 years after the announcement of this line’s return and I’m still so happy to see what these people have accomplished to get the EBT running again after its closure in 2011. They deserve every bit of the praise they get for reopening and preserving this gem of American history.
You’re all legends, honestly
So fill me in on some things. Back in the mid to late 80’s, I received a book (I guess it was actually a study) produced by the National Park Service detailing what was there, what was needed, etc. ad nauseam. At that time I lived in the Washington, DC area, and was active in a model railroad club in Md. (Rockville Society of Model Engineers) which had some members that had close ties with what was going on with the EBT. The last I heard about it, and we’re talking several decades ago, it sounded like the NPS didn’t really want the EBT. What has happened from the mid 80’s to 2023? Did the NPS just pack up and leave, and who owns it now? Happy new year!
I'm glad to be a part of the friends of the East Broad Top and Rock Hill Furnace Trolleys and I'm looking forward to when you hire conductors
Send them any donation you can!! They are a terrific group. These trains don't run on coal. They run on our donations. If you enjoy the railroad, give what you can.
SHARE SHARE SHARE SHARE THIS LIKE NO TOMORROW!! SPREAD THE WORD! EBT FOR THE COMEBACK!!
The ride on the U.S.S. Voyager, thru the tunnels at light-speed, to Robertsdale, gave me chills.
I'm gonna have to come up there and see this railroad soon. I hope y'all get the Newfoundland Rwy observation car back on narrow gauge trucks at some point, I think it deserves to be back in service.
Wonderful presentation of the enormous amount of work done. Great job to all involved!!
Long Live East Broad Top!! :) 🚂🚃🚃🚃
The blue prints flashing over the scene reminds me of the opening for Airwolf 😎
Good work , fine looking museum , track , locos . Keep it up . 🇬🇧👍
I hope to visit next summer ,happy new year from Dexter Maine
It's amazing what everyone has done! 🐱
I catched a part of a 3d scan of one of the tunnels, I think this is another hint

Both tunnels are beyond Saltillo headed towards Robertsdale, and both are in a very poor condition. In order for trains to run through them, they would need a ton of repairs and upgrades to make them structurally sound since they’ve sat abandoned since 1956
would absolutely love to see a video of the raw footage from the tunnel shots.
I was there last summer and I just want to say thank you for all you guys have done and I can’t wait to see what the future brings.
A masterfully put together video! I look forward to what you end up doing in 2023!
Nicely-done video!
What is the title of the music that plays in this video? It is absolutely incredible.
Single box car and hoppers and hoppers and hoppers and hoppers and…
With what was done for the East Broad Top so far, what is the current status of locomotive restoration on EBT #12, 14, 15, and 17? I am a really huge fan of this railroad and first found out about it in a fall 2003 and fall 2004 photo charter by Railway Productions

You forgot about engine no. 18, which is a part of the larger group of Mikados the East Broad Top owned. And to answer your question, no. 15 is the next locomotive being restored right now. It needs major running gear work, work on the appliances, a new tender tank, and work on other parts if the engine. However, it doesn't need much boiler work since before the railroad had shut down in 2011, the employees had done major work on the boiler. Locomotive no. 14 will most likely be the locomotive restored after no. 15, since it needs all the work 15 needs plus boiler work. The other 3 locomotives will be determined when and how they are going to be restored in the distant future.
