The Taj Mahal is an ivory-white marble mausoleum on the south bank of the Yamuna river in the Indian city of Agra. It was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan (reigned 1628-1658), to house the tomb of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
Construction of the mausoleum was essentially completed in 1643 but work continued on other phases of the project for another 10 years. The Taj Mahal was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 for being "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage". Described by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore as "the tear-drop on the cheek of time", it is regarded by many as the best example of Mughal architecture and a symbol of India's rich history. The Taj Mahal attracts 7-8 million visitors a year.
Inside the Taj Mahal, the cenotaphs honoring Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan are enclosed in an eight-sided chamber ornamented with pietra dura (an inlay with semi-precious stones) and a marble lattice screen. But the gorgeous monuments are just for show: The real sarcophagi are in a quiet room below, at garden level.

This is one of the mughal monuments, apart from this you can visit red fort,agra fort(moti masjid in agrafort is majestic you would feel like you have landed in moon fully white marble),itimad ud daulah,sikandra(akbar the great tomb), humayun's tomb, fatehpur sikri(lost city of mughals) these mughal monuments are also beautiful

I remember the first time I had visited Taj Mahal with my family in 2010 summer. It was a sizzling day with temp around 45 to 47 degree.. I was feeling dissapointed by the harsh weather but when we finally entered.. The very first glimpse of the Taj a cry went out of me.. I was not alone.. It was sheer magical. As we entered.. Taj wasn't visible.. As we walked the white monument started to rise against the summer lighted sky.. I was speechless so as my family and all others.. Such is the mesmerising effect of Taj. I went berserk clicking the monument in every possible angle I could think of at that moment. We stayed there exploring till the fire ball started to sink in to the horizon. What I noticed that as per the sun rays at different times.. the colour of the marble changes.. I can vouch no other monument in the world has the memerism effect as Taj. It's just amazingly beautiful and so elegantly designed manually without the help of modern tools and machinaries.. Kudos to an excellent Videography and was able to see new images of Taj which was perhaps never seen before.

No cranes No lifts No Cutters No blinders All monuments were full articulate by hands only and the row material (White Marble) were transported from Makarana (Rajasthan) more than 500 km away from Taj And the RESULT is there.. 😍

The Taj Mahal is by far the most incredible man made thing that I have ever seen and I've been around the block a time or two. I'm ashamed it took me til my 5th trip to India to visit it. This was built at about the same time the Pilgrims were eeking out a living/barely surviving in Plymouth Mass. 1620. Bravo. Well done.

The great cathedrals of Europe had already been built for hundreds of years when the Taj Mahal was constructed. Norte Dame was completed by about 1345, for instance.

I visited the Taj Mahal with my family on a visit to India in 1978 when I was 12 and even as a child I was awestruck at this building’s magnificence.
Tajmahal....It is really a marvel . I find no words to describe . The sculptures and workers who built the Taj are not ordinary humans . They have devine inspiration to create this eternal monument . In those days of no technology , how they have built this construction ? It is far beyond our imagination . They r very great . Taj is infact a dream in marble .

Great Architecture Vision and Passion of Shahjahan
Having been to the Taj 3 times in different seasons & different times of day, & once in early monsoon twilight silence of being almost alone ( just 2 other people were there) at the main plinth of the monument at dusk was absolutely surreal. I have always marvelled at how exquisite a structure the Taj is, set in its almost Mystical surroundings of its corresponding structures, Mughal gardens & the Yamuna with its seasonal ebb & flow. The actual interiors & tomb chambers are very dim so this video is a marvellous way to see the beauty of the inlay & filigree within. The view from the domed terrace is not allowed to public so that was a very special treat. This video is indeed a true Gem to behold & a perfect tribute to the Taj Mahal. Thank you so much.

Shahjahan was engaged to Mumtaz in his childhood when he was 14 years old.He had strong affection towards Mumtaz.He gave her the title,"Malika-i-Jahan".And about high birth rate in his family.Do you know? It was common in those days to have more no.of kids,but it doesn't mean that there was no love between husband and wife.It existed and we have no right to judge them regarding their married life . And about Cutting off hands of workers ,it was totally myth, there are no proper evidence regarding that. And after building Taj Mahal those workers were also engaged in several other Projects for example monument in Shahjahanabad.

I had visited tajmahal in june 2022 in way to Khatu Shyam ji mandir. we have no plan to visit , but when we exit from agra lucknow express way. the distance is very small, so we decided to go there.. believe me it was my first time , and my god , after entered the main door , my jaw drop like. wow .. kya cheez bnai h yarrr.. aur mai dekhta rh gya ek bar to .. aisa lga jaise jannat ki khubsurti h esame koi.... Real me Tajmahal jarur dekhna chahiye sbko jb mauka mile

The outside is outstanding. The inside is ethereal. Once inside, the atmosphere is heavenly. The art work is flawless and the experience is divine. I've seen it twice. On a Full Moon one winter evening, way back in 1970, the view and the grandeur of Taj bathed in moonlight was so enchanting and mesmerising, that it is permanently etched in my memory. You have to squeeze your eyes to know if you are seeing the truth, or is it a dream ?......

The Architect, Engineers, Artists who had helped to create this monument were geniuses. They had given the world the greatest gift of all time.

They are not fully aware that there were also hindu artist worked on that.And the recent findings also have doubts that if this was really built by Shahjahan or it was already there earlier.Shahjahan took the opportunity to make his name.

I came to a news once that carbon detection report of Taj Mahal shows it is 300 yrs older than Shah Jahan. 2. while studying about Indian arts during my college days we learnt that the designs were not pure but mix of all the cultures.There were different design theories applied. Example Lotus . 3. The history books available for that period were written mostly by emperor himself or by their patrons- they changed the history as they wanted hence these books are not fully trustworthy.

You can see also Qutab Minar and you will found there Hindus idols which are broken. In this way Mughals broke temples and start use them as a mosque. There too much examples of these types. No one can go to underground of the Tajmahal because ASI closed them for stay away from a fuss.

It is not a Mughal architecture, its built by Hindu kings of Jaipur...its called TEJO MAHALAY a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva..The mughals were only USURPERS.There is no record in Shahjahan's court history of him building the Tejo Mahalay..its all concocted lies by leftist historians under congress party..because such a narrative suited them.

@@AmritaSingh-xs1os Even a blind person can tell the difference between Mughal and Hindu architecture. If you have some sense, look it up. It may have been "built upon" a previous existing temple, but the building we see today is a mughal architecture. Compare it with other monuments in Arabian countries and you will see. Unesco is not some agenda driven organization Madam. Let the professionals do their work and you can utilize your time in educating yourself.
