Step Inside the Secretive Class That Turns People Into Hackers

Ғылым және технология

Forget algebra. Forget textbooks. This is education for the digital era.
The students of Practical Hacking are learning the tools and techniques that hackers use to infiltrate websites and networks. What they do with that knowledge is up to them.

Seriously, Mashable? You learn how to be a hacker when you study cybersecurity. You HAVE to learn how to hack in order to know how to defend against it. "Ethical Hacking" is the title of one of the classes in my Cybersecurity & Information Assurance college program. It's the same thing. You made this seem sinister.

As a student curious about software development and electrical engineering and hardware development, this class would be CRAZY HELPFUL in understanding how not to do things or to create a way of thinking that allowed me to be consciously aware of software vulnerabilities in systems I work on or work with. I would love to take this course or a similar course, oh my god, this is invaluable and I would love practical experience that allows me to develop more intelligent systems. This course would definitely elevate my standards in developing systems. This would completely change my perspective of security and that is inconceivably valuable. Someone contact me with a course like this, I know a dozen or two software developers that would love to take this course! I have a hard time finding a hands on course like this for cyber security, it's always theory based and I feel so disconnected with the material. I need a course like this.

I mention to any of my friends or any of their friends that I am currently in a cybersecurty course at Tafe, they loose their shit and get scared of me because I might "hack" them. It's stupid but it's the reality.

The reason for this may be very apparent. If the teachers do any netsec/pentesting outside of the classroom as a means for more cash there is a chance someone in a company will be able to identify them. Part of a pentest is social engineering, in which the "hackers" test staff out to see if they are compliant with standards. If the staff happened to watch this video and managed to identify these dudes as "hackers" then a regulations check on staff would be pointless.

Looks like a "How to use Metasploit 101" course. I mean...Metasploit is all well and good but it doesn't always work...as anyone who has taken any class in the pentesting domain can tell you. If you can't at least modify the code of a pre-existing exploit to fit your target, or write your own if there's not one, you're definitely not a hacker. Changing options in Metasploit only gets you so far. If they're teaching the methodology behind finding attack vectors and good enumeration techniques, then fine. But again, it only gets you so far.

hacking can be done on several different ways. It also depends on what you define as "hacking".. Is it only hacked when full system control? Or maybe you glad with only browser hacking, just for facebook? Maybe you manage to hack your way into a ticketing system to be 100% sure of a (cheaper) ticket. Or you reverse engineer some gambling software and now you can better predict outcomes. Or sniff data. Or maybe someone can combine all of these and set up a major hack... it all depends. Yes you can be hacked only by accessing a link, and most of the times hackers will get full system control when downloading something fishy

Sethumi Rajapakse if your flash drive was plugged in with a malicious hack or hacker on your computer it's very well a virus could have been uploaded to your flash drive making it corrupt or installing a different malicious software that could spread it to other computers
